Melody Stevenson
Melody Catherine Stevenson of Kapaa, Kauai passed away at home on July 18, 2014, at the age of 57. She was born in Akron, Ohio on August 7, 1956, and was a sales agent with Wyndham.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Harriet Green.
She is survived by four children, Amber, Naomi, Clifford and Jasmine Stevenson; one granddaughter, Sanoe Stevenson-Egeland; four siblings, Dana, Danny, Paula and Kelly Green; ex-husband, William Stevenson; numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of her life will be held on Sunday, August 3, 2014 at Hanalei Black Pot from noon to 6 p.m.

Paula Ballesteros
Paula Gallardo Ballesteros of Lihue passed away at home on July 18, 2014, at the age of 87. She was born in Lihue, Kauai on June 7, 1927, and retired from Walter Clark as a sales clerk.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ramon & Juanita Gallardo and son-in-law, Jay Delos Santos.
She is survived by her husband, Laurelio “Larry” Ballesteros; two sons, Dennis (Patricia) Pascual of Oahu, Rodolfo “Rudy” (Betty) Ballesteros of Oahu; one daughter, Cheryl Delos Santos of Lihue; 11 grandchildren, Rochelle (Barry) Ballesteros, Roxanne (Keoki) Palau, Molly (Billy) Trihey, Jeanine Pascual, Stacie Pascual, Julie Hily, Meghan Pascual, James McNichols, Laura McNichols, Alvie Morris, Kammy Morris; 23 great-grandchildren, 1 great great-grandson; brother-in-law, Antonio “Tony” Ballesteros, sister-in-law, Consorcia Melchor; numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, August 2, 2014, at Immaculate Conception Church with viewing from 8:00 a.m. to 9:45 and Mass celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Kauai Memorial Gardens.

Lillian Leihulu Agtarap, 74, of Keaau, passed away on Friday, July 11, 2014 at her residence. She was born on March 20, 1940, in Lihue, Kauai. She was a Professional Entertainer and a song bird of Wailua River followed by a life devoted to her family and God.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Fernandico Agtarap.
She is survived by her sons, Llewellyn (Pomai) Kaui, Shane Kaui and Kyle Agtarap of Keaau, Kameron Agtarap of Kapaa, Kauai; daughters, Arleen (Allen) Kuwamura of Kauai, Charmaine (Dennis) Della Bona of California and Jessica Agtarap of Keaau; sisters, Mildred “Kuki” Chow of Puhi, Kauai, Elsie Kaahaaina of Waianae, Louisa Brown of Arkansas and Alice Puanani Silverman of Anahola, Kauai; 13 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Her Life will be held on Saturday, August 2, 2014 at the Way of Salvation Church; 4565 Mamane Street, Kapaa, Kauai, from 9 a.m. to 12 noon. luncheon and fellowship to follow. Casual Attire is suggested.

Suelo Lomingket Semana of Waimea, Kauai passed away at home on July 15, 2014 at the age of 87. He was born in Lihue, Kauai and retired from Waimea/Kekaha Sugar Co.
He is survived by daughters: Susan Semana-Honebrink and Chuck Chalfant of Seattle, WA., Stella and Scott Rebbin of Colorado Springs, Co., grandchildren: Robert Suelo Dotson, Ronella (Dotson) and Josh Groschen, Emmaline Semana and Stanley (Boy) Chock Jr. of Waimea, Brittany Chock, Stanley (Braddah) Chock III, and Brendon (Kana) Chock. Also sisters Lucy Ceballos of Kalaheo and Felisa Samio of Waimea.
A Celebration of Suelo’s life services will be held at St. Theresa’s Church on Wednesday, July 30th. Visitation at 8:30 am and service at 9:30 am. Burial to follow at Kaua’i Veteran’s Memorial.

Valerie Ann Teixeira of Kapaa passed away at home on July 24, 2014, at the age of 64. She was born in Lihue, Kauai on June 11, 1950, and retired as a receptionist with Kauai Medical Clinic.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Margaret and Roberto Ladera, brother, Roberto Ladera Jr.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Teixeira; five children, Sean Ornellas, Trace (Fred) Aki, Shelli Ornellas, John (Genevieve) Teixeira, Sherri (Jeremy) Torio; 12 grandchildren, Samantha Eaton, Kaana and Kealii Aki, Fred (Suli) Aki, Clarence (Chelsey) Aki, Christina, Sheanna and Chesarae Torio, Jezarae, Kanani Kainoa and Channely Teixeira; 3 great-grandchildren, Chaslee, Chayden, Peleke Aki; sister, Janet (Ron) Silva, brother, Wesley (Priscilla) Ladera; numerous aunties, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Athmore Dexter Olivas of Kalaheo, 67, passed away on July 15, 2014 at Everett, Washington. Born on May 12, 1947 in Waimea, he was a photographer and computer technician with Islandwide Photography and Koloa Elementary School.
He is survived by his wife, Eunice Olivas of Kalaheo; sons, Kyle (Aisha) Olivas of Mililani, Oahu and Jon Olivas of Kalaheo; daughter, Jamie (Herman “Ekolu”) Chong of Lihue; brother, Joseph (Angela) Olivas of Kapaa; sisters, Alejandra (Bruce) Dusseault of Kaneohe, Oahu and Lorraine (Shaya) Romey of Whidbey Island, Washington; seven grandchildren, Keenan “Nohili” Olivas, Kyren “Wa’a” Olivas, Kala’i Chong, Makoa Chong, Kaimana Chong, Makali’i Chong, and Nickolaus Olivas; and numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Celebration of life will be held on Saturday, August 2, 2014 at the Garden Island Mortuary Chapel in Lawai, with visitation from 8:00 am followed by service at 10:00 am. Inurnment at Kauai Veterans Cemetery. Family suggests casual attire and requests that flowers be omitted.

John Schaefer
John Philip Schaefer of Kalaheo passed away on July 11, 2014 at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at age 93. Born on November 17, 1920 in Buffalo, New York, he was a WWII Veteran & retired mechanic with Pacific Machinery.
He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Bertha Schaefer; also by his brothers, Charles, Albert, and Howard; and sister, Kathrine.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Emi Doi Schaefer; son, Jace (Marilyn) Schaefer of Kauai; daughter, Geraldine Tom (Herbert) of Oahu; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A private celebration of his life will be held at Hanapepe Veterans Cemetery. No flowers.

Stanley Yokota
Stanley Yokota of Lihue passed away on June 25, 2014 at home at the age of 76. Born on March 1, 1938 in Lihue, Kauai, he was a switching technician with Hawaiian Telephone Co.
He is survived by his wife, Frances Yokota; daughters, Kari Yokota of Lihue and Carla (Jason) Idica of Eleele; brothers, Wallace (Sally) Yokota and Kenneth (Joyce) Yokota, both of Honolulu; sisters, Nancy Yamamoto and Diana (Norman) Oyakawa, both of Lihue, and two grandchildren, Leigh & Wyatt. Also surviving are numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, August 2, at the Lihue Christian Church from 9:30 am to 10:30 am. Service will begin at 10:30 a.m. Casual attire is suggested.

Peter A. Soares of Kapaa, Kauai, Hawaii, passed away on July 19, 2014 at the age of 61. Born on January 23, 1953 in Lihue, Kauai. He retired from the County of Kauai Parks and Recreation and previously employed by Lihue Plantation.
Preceded in death by his father, Manuel Soares Jr.
He is survived by his wife, Namnama “Nama” Soares, Kapaa; son, Robert Soares, Kapaa; daughter, Crystal Soares, Kapaa; mother, Alma Soares; sister, Veronica Colobong, Hanamaulu; brother, Manuel (Arnette) Soares, Kapaa. Numerous Aunties, Uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday August 9, 2014 at Borthwick Kauai Mortuary. Visitation at 9:00 am, Service 10:30 am. Burial to follow at Lihue Cemetery.
