Andrew Hawks, a basketball team from Hilo, will open a three-day basketball tournament today at the Kalaheo Neighborhood Center.
“Now that the Merv Lopes has come and gone, we are excited to give the younger division players an opportunity to play in a tournament format,” said Coach Clarence Sales of Team Central Basketball. “The summer league just ended so we decided to put the invitational tournament together for the younger division to play in before they head back to school.”
The Team Central basketball features six teams, including the visiting Andrew Hawks, and will play at the Kalaheo Neighborhood Center Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
Tipoff on Thursday is 6 p.m. when Andrew Hawks meets the Supersonics coached by Fran Constantino. The game will be followed by Team Central CP taking on Team Central RT. The evening ends when Hanakila takes on Kaulupono starting at 8 p.m.
Friday schedule will have Team Central CP taking on the Supersonics at 6 p.m. followed by Team Central RT going up against Hanakila at 7 p.m., and Kaulupono taking on Andrew Hawks starting at 8 p.m.
Six games are scheduled for Saturday starting at 10 a.m.
