Masayo Tone
Masayo O. Tone of Kapaa, Kaua’i, passed away on July 1, 2014 at age 98. Born on November 1, 1915 in Koolau, Kaua’i, she worked as a Bookkeeper and Front Desk at Coco Palms.
Preceded in death by her husband, Sadao Tone and son, Wayne Tone.
She is survived by her sons, Miles (Karen) Tone and Glenn (Adele) Tone, both of Kapaa, six grandchildren, Byron (Jennifer) Tone, Daren (Leila) Tone, Kyle Tone, Kristin Tone, Kelsie Tone, and Kevin Tone, three great-grandchildren, Kasen Tone, Coen Tone, and Kaya Tone, and sister, Eiko Watanabe.
Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, July 5, 2014 at the Kapaa Jodo Mission with visitation at 9:30 am and service will begin at 10:30 am. Family requests flowers omitted.

Pearl Chong Silva of Kapaa, formerly of Kealia, Kauai, Hawaii, Passed away on June 26, 2014 at the age of 87. Born on June 25, 1927 in Kealia. She was a cashier for Tony’s Mini Mart.
Preceded in death by her parents, Fook Yee & Mary Chong; husband, Antone “Tony” Silva Sr.; sisters, Jennie Akau, Gladys Tanigawa, Elsie Hoopii; brother, Herman Chong Sr.
She is survived by her children, Theresa “Momi” (Stephen) Maglente, Maui, Linda Alamani, Oregon, Pearl Lafaver, Oahu, Toni (Thomas) Young, California, Antone “Tony” (Donna) Silva Jr., Kapahi, Irene (George) Kawaguchi, California, Winona (Cliff) Dette, Oahu, Melvin (Jan) Silva, California, sister, Mary Jane Akana, Maui; brother, Albert (Joycelin) Chong, Oahu, 29 grandchildren & 44 great grandchildren, numerous nieces & nephews & cousins.
Friends may visit the family on Wednesday July 9, 2014 at Saint Catherine’s Catholic Church, Kapaa. Visitation at 9:00 A.M. Mass to be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. Burial to follow at Saint Catherine’s Cemetery.

Severino Llapitan Butay Sr. of Brydeswood, Kalaheo, passed away on June 19, 2014 at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at age 55. Born on April 25, 1959 in Cagayan, Philippines, he was a Parks & Recreation Caretaker with the County of Kauai.
Preceded in death by his father, Cayetano Butay Sr., brother, Alfredo Butay, father and mother-in-law, Mr & Mrs Inonsencio Lagoc.
He is survived by his wife, Magdalena Butay, sons, Richard (Puna) Butay of Hanama’ulu and Severino (Jaimie Pascua) Butay Jr. of Brydeswood, Kalaheo, daughter Cathy Butay of Brydeswood, Kalaheo, his mother, Lorenza Butay, brothers, Percival Butay of Oregon and Cayetano (Shamira Nitsche) Butay Jr. of Kekaha, sisters, Evangeline (Vereno Geronimo) Butay of Kaumakani and Felina Butay of Lihue, brothers-in-law, Arthur (Flora) Lagoc and Mario (Jovita) Lagoc, both of Kaumakani, sisters-in-law, Angielita (Julio) Ganotisi of Eleele and Christine (Junior) Ramos of Kaumakani, and seven grandchildren, Keyrsten, Kaya, Jayvier, Rhyzen, Sylas, Rhextyn, and Rhicky.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, July 12, 2014, 7:30 to 9:30 am, at St. Theresa’s Church. Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am, burial at Kekaha Public Cemetery. Casual attire is suggested and flowers are welcome. Reception to follow at the Hanapepe Stadium.

Veronica Gish
Veronica Cruzada Gish of Waldron, Missouri passed away on May 28, 2014, in Waldron, Missouri at the age of 70. She was born in Lihue, Kauai on February 8, 1944. She was a veteran of the United States Navy and a Registered Nurse.
Preceded in death by her parents, Restituto “Tony” and Ramona Cruzada.
She is survived by her husband, Dennis Gish; son, Rusty (Rasha) Gish; daughter, Rene Gish; 3 grandchildren; brothers, Rusty Cruzada, Allan Cruzada; sisters, Gloria Vega, Lorraine Ishii, Sheila Barretto; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, July 5, 2014, at Immaculate Conception Church with visitation from 9:00 a.m. and Mass celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Inurnment will follow at Kauai Memorial Gardens.

Anne Hyde Rice Moncrief of Lihue, Kauai, Hawaii, passed away on June 29, 2014 at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 71 Born in Lihue, Kauai on July 16, 1942 She was a philanthropist.
Preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Edith Rice Plews.
She is survived by her daughters, Emmy (Michael) Copriviza, California; Juliet (Kuma) Moncrief, Big Island; Heather (Richard) Waters, Virginia; brother, John Plews, Honolulu; 4 grandchildren, numerous Aunties and Uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A Celebration of life will be held on Saturday July 5, 2014 at the Lihue Cemetery Service at 4:00 P.M.

Malina Leahi Pereza-Santos of Lawai, Kaua’i, passed away on June 19, 2014 at age 26. Born on September 1, 1987 in Lihue, Kaua’i, she was an Archivist.
She is survived by her husband, Rudy “Kimo” Santos and daughter, Mahiehie Pereza-Santos of Lawai, Kaua’i. Also surviving are her parents, Tommy Pereza and Caroline (Klocke) Pereza of Lawai, Kaua’i, brothers, Eli Brainerd of Lawai, Kaua’i, Stephan Pereza of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Alika Pereza of Lawai, Kaua’i, and sisters, Kanoe (Aberegg) Naone of Moanalua Valley, HI and Kalea Pereza of Lawai, Kaua’i.
Friends may visit with the family on Friday, July 11, 2014 at the Garden Island Mortuary Chapel in Lawai at 10 am. Service will begin at 12 noon. Private burial will be held.
