“I work through observations on life,” Skaradzinska said. “I like to mix realism with abstract.”
Her original works of art along with the creations by other talented Kauai painters and sculptors will be one of the highlights at the sixth annual Summer Fine Art Festival on Sunday in Poipu.
The festival is produced by the Women Artists of Kauai organization and the National Tropical Botanical Garden.
“I like being part of a group like the Women Artists of Kauai. Each of us is on our own path. They are very inspiring. There’s no competition between us,” Skaradzinska said. “The best part is that 20 percent of the sales at the event go to a nonprofit cause.”
Established Kauai artists will include Patrice Pendarvis, Donia Lilly, Helen Turner, Suzy Staulz, Leslie Hagen, Jennifer Rutt, Kathleen Bryan, Caylin Spear and Marionette Taboniar. In addition to displaying their works for sale, they will be on hand to discuss their art which is in a variety of mediums, from watercolors and acrylics to plastics and clay. Photography and textile art will also be exhibited.
Besides the display of original art and prints as well as art demonstrations, the event will feature live music and a variety of food. Proceeds of art sales will benefit NTBG.
The festival will run from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Southshore Visitors Center. It is across from Spouting Horn at 4425 Lawai Road in Poipu. Info: www.womenartistsofkauai.blogspot.com or call 742-2433.
