As the Kauai Independent Food Bank’s Spring Healthy Food and Fund Drive neared its close, the Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort and Spa contributed 2,350 pounds of food and $685 towards the drive.
“The Grand Hyatt Kauai held a food drive in April, setting goals for each department, creating teams of departments, tracking and sharing progress as the month progressed,” said Diann Hartman, Grand Hyatt Kauai’s director of public relations.
Hartman said the Poipu resort enjoyed 100 percent participation from all departments with each team achieving more than 100 percent of their respective goals.
Kelvin Moniz, the executive director for KIFB, said the Spring Health Food and Fund Drive has a goal of 40,000 pounds of food and $40,000 and is nearing the end.
“We’re in the process of picking up the final contributions from organizations who have conducted food drives,” Moniz said. “Once the spring drive ends, we’ll be starting our 2-for-1 donations on May 15 where an anonymous donor is offering to match financial contributions, a dollar for a dollar.”
