The makai end of the Kukui Grove Center is coming back to life.
Located immediately adjacent to the parking lot between Kukui Grove Center and the back entrance of the Big Kmart store, Kalapaki Joe’s will open doors to its newest restaurant and sports bar this summer.
“Kalapaki Joe’s is a well-established favorite restaurant with local families,” said Wade Lord, Kukui Grove Center’s general manager. “They will complement our existing restaurant mix nicely and is a great addition along with the new Sports Authority and Ross Dress for Less stores.”
Located just two doors down from Sports Authority, also scheduled to open this summer, Kalapaki Joe’s will offer family dining as well as a sports bar with big screen televisions. There will also be outdoor seating.
“We are pleased to bring the Kalapaki Joe’s brand to Kukui Grove Shopping Center,” said Jody Valente, who along with his wife Erika owns Kalapaki Joe’s. “As a Kauai-grown business, it feels great to be a part of the growth and change at Kukui Grove. We will offer the opportunity to round out shoppers’ retail adventures with a cold beer and nice meal while watching their favorite sport on large-screen televisions.”
Valente plans to hire about 30 employees. Kalapaki Joe’s has about 100 employees at its three locations in Lihue, Poipu, and most recently, Waimea.
Kalapaki Joe’s prides itself for providing the best happy hour on Kauai and offering the island’s largest draft beer selection.
