Michael Ching of Hanalei will lead the celebration. During the monthlong observance of Ching Ming, gravesites are tidied, tombstones cleaned and families gather to worship their deceased relatives.
Offerings will be placed at the cemetery altar. They will include roast pig, poached chicken, fruit, bowls of ceremonial food dishes, chopsticks, cups of tea and rice wine.
Additional offering will be lit candles, large and small sticks of incense and burning of paper embossed with gold and silver representing money to be spent by the deceased in the other world.
Lunch will be at #1 Chinese Restaurant in Kapaa following the ceremony.
