POIPU — Cheyanne Tannery, a student at Kauai High School, had to borrow a horse to participate in the Kauai All Girls Rodeo Association event Sunday at the CJM Country Stables in Poipu.
“She used my horse,” said Cheyanne’s mom, Wendy. “This is the mother horse which I only recently separated from her baby.”
Wendy was elated as Cheyanne picked up a first place, and a second place.
“She was first in poles (1D 22.440 seconds),” Wendy said. “And second in Barrels (1D 18.289) below Marti Snyder.”
Snyder went on to finish as All Around Reserve Cowgirl, the runner up spot in the KAGRA rodeo, to Kim Medeiros who was named All Around Cowgirl following the tallying of results for the six events Sunday, including Barrel Racing, Pole Bending, Goat Tying, Steer Undecorating, Dally Team Roping and Breakaway Roping.
