County overrides 2491 veto

The Kauai County Council voted 5-2 today to override Mayor Bernard Carvalho’s recent veto of controversial Bill 2491 related to pesticides and genetically modified crops on Kauai. The deciding vote was cast by Mason

Chock, who replaced former Councilwoman Nadine Nakamura. The bill, which requires mandatory disclosure of pesticide use and by the island’s largest agricultural companies, will go into effect in nine months. Look for extended coverage in Sunday’s edition of The Garden Island.
