Happy Camper for Friday, November 8, 2013

Congratulations to Grecean Manuel for earning overall winner honors at the Westin Princeville Ocean Resort Villas pumpkin carving contest.

Mahalo to June Cappiello for getting the results, which included Amber Loughead earning Most Creative for her turtle creation, and Steven Pimental for the spookiest pumpkin.

The pumpkins were on display when the Westin Princeville donated some $23,000 to the Kauai Lifeguard Association and voted on by the resort’s guests.

Sheila Murray, a guest at the Mokihana in Waipouli, said a group of Mokihana people hosted a Halloween bash, which ended up raising nearly 200 pounds of food and $4,657 for the Kauai Independent Food Bank.

OK, looking ahead, this is the weekend when Marissa Sandblom hosts the Grove Farm community swap meet Saturday at Puhi Park from 8 a.m. and Judy Webb has her Garden Isle Artisan Craft Fair at the Kapaa Beach Park Saturday from 9 a.m.

Happy shopping!
