Hundreds of people of all ages, from residents to visitors, gathered in Kapaa Saturday morning to watch the annual Veterans Day Parade as an early appreciation for the holiday on Monday.
The small town spirit was alive as veterans and current servicemen and servicewomen, the Kapaa High School Band, army vehicles, floats, classic cars, Miss Kauai Veteran and even a troupe of tiny ponies and tall horses made their way on Kuhio Highway through Old Kapaa Town.
The parade started at Panihi Road at 10 a.m., and stretched all the way to Kapaa Beach Park, where the celebration continued with public speakers, ono grinds and musical entertainment.
The parade’s theme was “Honoring our Hawaii National Guard.”
