LIHUE — People wishing imu service for their Thanksgiving turkey or ham are encouraged to make their reservations early, said Charlene Steuri of the Kauai Bots.
Kauai Bots, a robotic program that involves students from five high schools, is offering its Thanksgiving imu, or Hawaiian-style steaming in an underground oven, service to the community.
Reservations are $25 for each turkey, chicken, ham, or pork butts, completely thawed and ready for the imu.
Drop off on Nov. 27 is at either Island School, the Safeway Store in Kauai Village, or at the imu site in Lawai. Pickup is Nov. 28 from 9 to 10 a.m. at any of the three sites.
For reservations, email chsteuri@ gmail.com, kauaibots2465@gmail.com, kate.mink@ischool.org, or call 635-7377 or 652-7996.
The Kauai Bots program features high school students from Kauai, Kapaa, Waimea, Island School, and this year, Kawaikini Public Charter School, and some home school students, working on a robot earmarked for an international competition in March.
