St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church, 4364 Hardy at Umi Street in Lihue, will observe its 50th anniversary on Nov. 2-3.
There will be special celebration services throughout the weekend including the at 5:30 p.m Saturday. Jazz Vespers featuring percussionist Carey Valentine and pianist Hank Curtis. A reception will follow the 7:30 a.m. contemplative service Sunday, and the main 9:45 a.m. service with trumpet, alumni choir and special music.
The founding Rector, The Rev. Charles Crane, and the 32-year Rector Father Jan Rudinoff, will be speaking at all three services and St. Michael’s present Rector, the Rev. William Miller, will preach a special sermon at all services titled “The Saints of Saint Michael’s!”
At 8:30 a.m. Sunday, Crane and Rudinoff, along with church patriarch Hobey Goodale, will share favorite memories and stories related to the history of St. Michael’s.
At 11:15 a.m. on Sunday there will be a gala champagne reception in the Parish Hall with live jazz, and pupu, pasta and dessert stations.
All are invited and all 50th anniversary events and services are free.
