Gloria Allen
Gloria Allen passed peacefully at her home surrounded by family and friends on Kauai, Hawaii, at the age of 91 years, on July 26, 2013. She was born June 15, 1922 in Oregon and was a homemaker and owner of a Hallmark Card shop in Seattle.
Preceded in death by husband Robert, she is survived by her son Dr. Terry (Marilyn) Allen, daughters Janet Nord (John) and Wendy Carlson (Robert), seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Sept. 15, at 3 p.m at
St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church, located at 4364 Hardy Street in Lihue.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that contributions be made to St. Michael’s and All Angels Church or Kauai Hospice.

Emma Oda
Emma Oda of Puhi passed away on Sept. 2, 2013 at Hale Kupuna Heritage Home at the age of 81. Born on March 1, 1932 in Koolau, Hawaii, she was a Sales Clerk with Top to Toe Giftshop.
She was preceded in death by husband, Masaharu “Mac” Oda, and brothers, Isaac Melandish and Joseph Melandish.
She is survived by her daughters, Charlee (Edwin) Tam Ho of Kahului, Maui and Sherri Yasutake of Lihue, Kauai; brother, Charles Melandish of Kealia, Kauai; sisters, Florence Albao of California and Salome Wong of Waipouli, Kauai; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Friends may visit with the family on Sept. 19, 2013 at the Garden Island Mortuary Chapel in Lawai at 9 a.m. Service starts at 10 a.m. Burial will be at the Kauai Veterans Cemetery. Casual attire is suggested.

Eileen Ululani Kua Edwards
Eileen Ululani Kua Edwards of Kekaha passed away on Sept. 11, 2013 at Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital at the age of 74. Born on Nov. 3, 1938 in Kekaha Kauai, she was a professional singer/Hula dancer/musician, licensed massage therapist, and Waimea High School security aide.
She is survived by her husband, Edward James Edwards; son, Ehren (Leah) Kalana Edwards of Kekaha; daughters, Ernell (Darren) Noelani Kamalu of Kane’ohe; Edene (Aukai) Pu’uwailani Gonsalves of Mililani; and Edrienne (Scott) Leolani (Carpenter) Blanton of Dallas; sister, Charleen (Tauveve) Ku’ualoha Kua Fanene of San Leandro, California; and fifteen grandchildren, Jessica Noelani Kamalu; Erica Lehua Kamalu; Nicole Pu’uwailani Kamalu; Ka’ohinani Ellen Kamalu; Raquel Kealohamakua Kamalu; Ka’iulani Darrell Kamalu; Tatum Ariel Ka’iulani Gonsalves; Quinn Kalana Gonsalves; Cannon Aukai Gonsalves; Waileia Rego Edwards; Nahe Rego Edwards; Liko Rego Edwards; Kal Rego Edwards; Logan Kalana Carpenter; and Austin Kainoa Carpenter; aunty, Lei Souza and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family on Sept. 18, 2013 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Kekaha from 2 to 4 p.m. Service will begin at 4 p.m. and burial to follow at Kekaha Hawaiian Cemetery. Casual attire is suggested.

Donald Hisa Amaki
Donald Hisa Amaki of Makawao, Maui (formerly of Kauai) passed away on Aug. 22, 2013 at Wailuku, Maui at the age of 54. He was born on Sept. 24, 1958 in Waimea, Kauai. He was a Laborer for Shioi Construction.
He is preceded in death by parents, Kumeo and Harumi Amaki; son, Jerrick Amaki.
He was survived by son, Garrick Amaki; brothers, Neal Amaki and Milton (Lita) Amaki; sister, Aileen Arakawa and Claire N. (Christopher) Olores.
A graveside service will be held at Kauai Veteran’s Cemetery on Sept. 21, 2013. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. with service at 10 a.m. and burial to follow.

Alan J. Hall
Alan J. Hall of Waimea passed away on Sept. 6, 2013 at home at the age of 74. He was born on Dec. 30, 1938 in Brooklyn, NY. He was a Supplier-Operations Manager with Unocal 76 and Kamehameha Class of ‘56.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Momi Hall.
He is survived by his wife, Janet C. Hall; sons, Andrew (Levanna) L. Keikaika Hall and Joseph K. Hall, both of Kauai; daughters, Kimberly L. Hall of Waikoloa and Katherine K. Hall of California; brother, Gary (Merrily) J. Hall of Kalaheo; sisters, Luana Yamamoto and Lydia Hall, both of Eleele; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Misayo Morimoto
Misayo Morimoto of Lihue passed away on Sept. 10, 2013 at Hale Kupuna Heritage Home at the age of 93. She was born on Jan. 11, 1920 in Haena, she was a Cafeteria Cook at Wilcox Elementary School.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Yoshio Morimoto, daughter, Doris McKaig, and brothers, Masato Nakae and Satoru Nakae.
She is survived by her sons, Allan (Jean) I. Morimoto of Aiea Hawaii and Roy M. Morimoto of Lihue Kauai; brother, Kiyoshi Nakae; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A private service will be held on a later date.

Kinsley Guillen
Kinsley Ainsworth Guillen of Wailua, Kauai passed away on Aug. 11, 2013 at Straub Hospital at the age 59. He was born on July 25, 1954 in Honolulu, Oahu. He was a Scrimshaw Artist and a Security Guard for Garden Island Security.
He is survived by daughter, Kahealani “Tuni” Cummings; brothers, Leslie Guillen and Lance Guillen; sisters, Eileen Buza; Sharolyn (Malcolm) Kight; Corliss Greip; 3 grandchildren, Trysen Piak; Tejah Paik and Jhonetyn Rivera; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Family and friends can join the Celebration of Life at Anahola Clubhouse at 10 a.m. on Sept. 21, 2013. A scattering of ashes will be done on Sept. 22, 2013 at Anini Beach. Aloha attire.

Felipe O. Sanchez of Lihue passed away on Sept. 3, 2013 at Queens Hospital, Honolulu, HI at the age of 72. He was born on Feb. 9, 1941 in Urdaneta, Pangasinan, Philippines, he was an Accountant at Wilcox Memorial Hospital.
He was preceded in death by his sister Grace Pagaduan.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia O. Sanchez; sons, Phillip (Daisy) Sanchez of Tracy, CA and Percy Mark Sanchez of Lihue, HI; and three grandchildren.

Joseph Kalani Naniwa Tachibana of Kalaheo, Kauai, Hawaii Passed away on Sept. 9, 2013 at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 74. He was born on April 9, 1939 in Kapaa, Kauai.
He retired from The Kauai Bus and was a co-proprietor of a Omao nursery.
He was preceded in death by parents, Tatsuo and Dinah Tachibana; brother, John Martins; sister, Dinah “Tomiko” Tamura.

Happy Lalana Ali’ikaulana Kanahele Jr. of Kekaha, Kauai, Hawaii passed away on Sept. 8, 2013 at the age of 53 at Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital. He was born on Oct. 19, 1959 in Pu’uwai, Niihau. He was a heavy equipment operator for Kekaha Sugar Plantation and groundskeeper for N.T.B.G.
He was preceded in death by parents, Happy and Emma Kanahele.
