Happy birthday to Taryn Dizon who spent her special day on the lawn of the historic County Building Monday!

Arthur Brun was also on hand, noting how the Smoked Meat Plate lunch special at Syngenta Seed helped the Hanapepe Pop Warner Association raise nearly $2,500 for uniforms in time for the start of the Kauai Pop Warner Football League season.

Over at the Hokulea, which is spending its final week on Kauai at the Nawiliwili Small Boat Harbor, Kanana Kuhaulua changed her pu from the conch shell to a bamboo one. Kunana said the public is welcome to view the Hawaiian sailing canoe through Friday from 1 to 4 p.m., based on crew availability.

Steve Soltysik and Koral McCarthy were continuing their dockside lessons, Steve noting how inmates from the Kauai Community Correctional Center used recycled materials to create more than 1,300 replica models of Hokulea thath were presented to Kauai’s fourth-grade students.
