Kauai High receives funds for new gym

LIHUE — Gov. Neil Abercrombie Wednesday announced a release of more than $18.7 million for state facilities and schools with over $9 million of it being awarded to Kauai High School.

According to the governor, Kauai High School will receive $9.9 million for the construction of a new gymnasium.

The new gym will be a significant upgrade over the school’s current gym — which was built back in 1939 — and will feature a wresting room, boys and girls locker rooms, an athletics director’s office and other support spaces.
