Melina Keimi Walker of Waimea passed away on Sunday, July 28, 2013 at Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital at the age of 2. She was born on October 17, 2010 in Waimea, Kauai.
She is survived by her parents, Matthew Anthony Walker and Lorrie Deanne Otto; two brothers, Makai Walker and Mace Walker; sister, Hailey Walker; paternal grandparents, Mary Kagawa-Garcia and Daniel Garcia; maternal grandparents, Bulee Ben; Bill Emilyon and Rick Otto; aunties and uncles, Jaime (Kamanu Grace) Otto; Cassie (Isaac) Miyashiro; Michelle (Daniel Hurtado) Walker and Mitchel (Leila) Kagawa; and numerous cousins.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, August 17, 2013 at the Holy Cross Catholic Church from 9:30 to 10:30 am, Mass to be celebrated at 10:30 am. Burial will be at the Kekaha Public Cemetery.

Generosa Rivera Aguinaldo of Kaumakani, Kauai, Hawaii passed away at Hale Kapuna Heritage Home on July 26, 2013 at the age of 103. She is born on January 15, 1910 in the Philippines. She was a housewife.
She was preceded in death by mother, Engracia Rivera; husband, Juan Aguinaldo; daughters, Martina Aguinaldo and Mercela Aguinaldo.

Tokusuke “Toku” Kutaka Of Wailua Homestead, Kauai, Hawaii passed away at his home on July 27, 2013 at the age of 83. He was born on June 21, 1930 in Wailua Homesteads. He served in the U.S. Army, and was retired from the County of Kauai.

He was preceded in death by stepmom, Phyllis Aquino and sister, Tammy Marie Aquino.

Lucille “Momi” Yvonne Leimomi Alapai of Anahola passed away at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on August 4, 2013, at the age of 65. She was born in Lihue on July 26, 1948, and retired as a bartender from Molokai airport.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Adrian “Ula” Lewis and Martha Alapai Caculitan; brothers, Ambrose Worthington and Paul Alapai; sisters, Martha Worthington-Ormord; Esther Marie Heen and Rose Doiron-Ponomoi.

A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2013 at Christian Crossroads on Kapaa bypass road with family visitation from 8:30 a.m. and public visitation from 9:30 a.m. Services celebrated at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Kapaa County Cemetary.

Damien Victorino
Damien D. Victorino of Kapahi, Kauai, Hawaii passed away on August 3, 2013 at his home while surrounded by family at the age of 75. He was born on Kauai. He was a retired Fire Chief of the Kauai Fire Department.
He was preceded in death by parents, Alfred and Elsie Victorino of Kapaa.
He is survived by wife, Elizabeth Victorino; sons, Damien Victorino, Jr. and Bill Victorino; daughter, Angela Ledee; grandchildren, Billy, Zane, Kynan, Dalton, Harlo, Tiana and Mikey; brother, Butch Victorino.
Service will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2013 at St. Catherine’s Church in Kapaa. There will be a brief viewing from 10:15 to 10:50 a.m. with mass to follow. Following the mass there will be a luncheon at the Kapaa Baseball Park Pavilion.

Flor “Flo” M. Labuguen of Lihue, Kauai, Hawaii passed away on August 3, 2013 at Garden Island Healthcare at the age of 87. He was born on October 15, 1925 in Pasuquin, Ilocos Norte, Philippines. He was retired from the Westin as a groundskeeper, U.S. Army Korean War Veteran.
He was preceded in death by parents, Victor and Juliana Labuguen.

James “Jimmy” “The Crab Man” T. Dilwith Jr., of Kapaa, Kauai, Hawaii passed away on August 5, 2013 at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 72. He was born on April 16, 1941 in Waipahu, Oahu. He was a retired Police Lieutenant with the Kauai Police Department in the traffic unit.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Aileen Dilwith Sr.

She was preceded in death by spouse, Venancio Lorenzo; parents, Florentino (Maura) Barcena; brother, Juanito Barcena.
She is survived by her two daughters, Maura (Leo) Sloan of Las Vegas; and Lucia (Ricky) Kaui of Kapaa; six grandchildren; two step grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and numerous brothers, uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Gladys Hanako Shigematsu Palk of Honolulu, Hawaii, passed away August 2, 2013 at the age of 85. She was born in Lihue, Kauai on March 10, 1928.
She was a Secretary for Pearl Harbor Naval Base Department of Defense.
She is survived by sister, Eunice Asayo Kinoshita; step-sons, Darryl Park and Kevin Palk; step-daughter, Bonnie Palk Humble; 4 grandchildren; nieces; nephews; grand-nieces and grandnephews.
Funeral services will be held at Borthwick Mortuary, Makai Chapel, at 1330 Maunakea Street, Honolulu, Hawaii on Thursday, August 15, 2013. Visitation is at 9 a.m. Service is at 10 a.m.
Burial will be held at National Cemetery of the Pacific, 2177 Puowaina Drive, Honolulu, Hawaii on Thursday, August 15, 2013 at 1 p.m.
Shigeko Yamamotoya
Shigeko Yamamotoya of Lihue passed away at Garden Isle Health Care on August 2, 2013, at the age of 77. She was born in Iwakuni, Japan on August 23, 1935, and retired from The Westin Kauai as a cook.
She was preceded in death by her husband Mitsuru Yamamotoya; brother, Kiyomi Hiranaka.
She is survived by her son, Don Yamamotoya of Lihue; daughter, Marie (Gehan) Yamamotoya Devendra of California; three grandchildren, Gideon, Micah and Elijah; two sisters, Toshiko Shimizu and Shizuko (Yoshito) Ogata; sister-in-law, Michie Hiranaka all of Japan; numerous nieces and nephews.
Private services were held.
Kauai Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home assisted the Yamamotoya family with arrangements.
John Joseph Taylor Sr.
John Joseph Taylor Sr. of Lihue passed away on August 3, 2013 at his residence at the Regency Puakea at the age of 92. He was born on July 25, 1921 in New York City, New York and moved to Southern California in 1948. He was retired from the elevator industry as president of Reliable Elevator in 1984. He served in the Navy aboard the USS Broome and the USS New Jersey during WW II.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Dorothy Louise Taylor.
He is survived by his son, John Joseph Taylor, Jr. of Koloa; daughter, Dorothy Bartz of Hemet, California; brother, Richard Taylor of Canyon Lake, CA; three grandchildren, Ben Taylor of Koloa; Kalena Taylor of Koloa and Maile Botelho of Honolulu; four great granddaughters; and nieces, nephews and cousins.
A private Celebration of Life will be held in Koloa.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Maximilliano and Trinidad Gabriel; and son, Eddie Gabriel.

Thomas Earl Hawthorne Jr., of Kalaheo, passed away at home on Saturday, August 10, 2013, at the age of 72. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and United Air Lines as a Control Maintenance Supervisor.
He is survived by his wife, Marlene C. Hawthorne; daughter, Brenda
Hawthorne (partner Marcy Morgan) of Santa Rosa, CA; sister, Mary Ann Smith (nephews, Steve and Mike Smith) of Holiday, FL; step-daughter, Renee’ Kester (Kirby, Karter, and Kaleb Kester) of Koloa, HI; four stepsons; several step-grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the Hawthorne family requests donations in his honor are sent to Kauai Hospice.
Celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Elaine Michiko Denny of Lawai passed away on August 11, 2013 at home at the age of 65. She was born on April 18, 1948 in Hilo, Hawaii. She was a High School Math Teacher and Registrar with Kapa’a High School.
She was preceded in death by husband, James J. Denny Sr. and parents Mineo and Sueno Kodama.
She is survived by her sons, Michael (Kristy) Denny and Andrew (Janel) Denny, both of Honolulu; daughter, Janine (Anthony) Williams of Kihei, HI; brothers, Glenn (Hester) Kodama and Howard (Patti) Kodama, both of Hilo; sister, Pat (Reginald) Arai of Hilo; six grandchildren; and numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
