Michael Mijares
Michael Austin Mijares passed away on Sunday, July 21st at Broward General Hospital in Ft. Lauderdale at the age of 25. He was born in Tampa, FL and Graduated from Kapaa High, class of 2006 and was a Student at San Diego State University.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Janice Anderson of Clearwater, FL.
He is survived by his parents, Juli and Scott Mijares; brother, Ryan Mijares of Medellin, Columbia; sister, Maile Mijares of Gainesville, FL; grandparents, Frank and Peggy Mijares of Gainesville, FL; Auntie, Linda Babbs of Ft, Myers FL, Auntie Cindy Anderson of West Palm Beach, FL, Auntie Robin Mijares of Reston, VA, and Auntie Marcy Mijares of Gainesville, FL, and numerous cousins and his dear girlfriend, Brittney Williams of Ft. Lauderdale, FL
The family has scheduled a celebration of life throughout the day starting at 2:00pm at their home in Kalihiwai on Sunday, August 18th 2013. Tokusuke “Toku” Kutaka Of Wailua Homestead, Kauai, Hawaii passed away at his home on July 27, 2013 at the age of 83. He was born on June 21, 1930 in Wailua Homesteads. He served in the U.S. Army, and was retired from the County of Kauai.
He was preceded in death by parents, Shoki & Hatsuko Kutaka; brothers, Shinichi & Masaichi Kutaka;

Melina Keimi Walker
Melina Keimi Walker of Waimea passed away on Sunday, July 28, 2013 at Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital at the age of 2. She was born on October 17, 2010 in Waimea, Kauai.
She is survived by her parents, Matthew Anthony Walker and Lorrie Deanne Otto; two brothers, Makai Walker and Mace Walker; sister, Hailey Walker; paternal grandparents, Mary Kagawa-Garcia and Daniel Garcia; maternal grandparents, Bulee Ben; Bill Emilyon and Rick Otto; aunties & uncles, Jaime (Kamanu Grace) Otto; Cassie (Isaac) Miyashiro; Michelle (Daniel Hurtado) Walker and Mitchel (Leila) Kagawa; and numerous cousins.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, August 17, 2013 at the Holy Cross Catholic Church from 9:30 to 10:30 am, Mass to be celebrated at 10:30 am. Burial will be at the Kekaha Public Cemetery.

Lucille “Momi” Yvonne Leimomi Alapai of Anahola passed away at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on August 4, 2013, at the age of 65. She was born in Lihue on July 26, 1948, and retired as a bartender from Molokai airport.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Adrian “Ula” Lewis and Martha Alapai Caculitan; brothers, Ambrose Worthington and Paul Alapai; sisters, Martha Worthington-Ormord; Esther Marie Heen and Rose Doiron-Ponomoi.
She is survived by sons, Akira (Marietta) Alapai of Molokai; Paul “Pauly” (Lisa) Kuwamura of Kapaa; daughters, Mieko (Randall) Kaui of Anahola; Kiku (Kevin) Donnelly of Molokai; Shar “Choo” Iseri of Kapaa; Ty (Chacha) Alapai of Kapaa; Shay ”Choriki” Iseri of Anahola; 14 grandchildren, Dylan; Moani; Keani; Brandi; Korie; Kamyl; Noah; Susan; Lynsey; Eesha; Kolby; Kylee; Deshaynee; La’akea; 9 great-grandchildren, AJ; Austin; Ashlynn; Aamen; Ishawra; Iden; Iriana; Ariani; Charles Shigeru; siblings, Adrian Lewis of California; Delbert K. A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2013 at Christian Crossroads on Kapaa bypass road with family visitation from 8:30 a.m. and public visitation from 9:30 a.m. Services celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Kapaa County Cemetery.

Gladys Palk
Gladys Hanako Shigematsu Palk of Honolulu, Hawaii, passed away August 2, 2013 at the age of 85. She was born in Lihue, Kauai on March 10, 1928.
She was a Secretary for Pearl Harbor Naval Base Department of Defense.
She is survived by sister, Eunice Asayo Kinoshita; step-sons, Darryl Park and Kevin Palk; step-daughter, Bonnie Palk Humble; 4 grandchildren; nieces; nephews; grand-nieces and grandnephews.
Funeral services will be held at Borthwick Mortuary, Makai Chapel, at 1330 Maunakea Street, Honolulu, Hawaii on Thursday, August 15, 2013. Visitation is at 9:00 a.m. Service is at 10:00 a.m.
Burial will be held at National Cemetery of the Pacific, 2177 Puowaina Drive, Honolulu, Hawaii on Thursday, August 15, 2013 at 1:00 p.m.
Marian Kanekiyo
Marian O. Fujimoto-Kanekiyo of Lihue passed away on July 24, 2013 at Garden Island Healthcare at the age of 82. She was born on October 1, 1930 in Eleele, Kauai, she was a maid with Kauai Sands.
She is survived by her husband Wayne Kanekiyo of Lihue and sister-in-law Miyoshi Fujimoto of Kalaheo.
A Private Service was held.

Alvin Aquino
Alvin Arnold Aquino of Las Vegas passed away on July 31, 2013 at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 55. He was born on March 8, 1958 in Honolulu. He was a Maintenance Engineer with California Hotel, Las Vegas.
He was preceded in death by stepmom, Phyllis Aquino and sister, Tammy Marie Aquino.
He is survived by his wife, Doreen Aquino; son, Noa Rudy Kaulana Aquino; parents, Don Aquino and Pearl Rimando; brothers, Bobby Rimando of Las Vegas, NV; Ronnie Jensen of Provo, UT and Jerry Slaughter of Las Vegas, NV; sisters, Lori Jensen of Richfield, UT and Tammy Hiromoto of Oakville, CA; numerous uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family on Friday, August 16, 2013 at the Garden Island Mortuary Chapel in Lawai at 4:00 pm. Service starts at 5:00 pm. Casual attire is suggested.

Maria B. Lorenzo of Waimea passed away on July 28, 2013 at Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital at the age of 78. She is born on July 2, 1935 in the Philippines. She was a field worker with Global Ag.
She was preceded in death by spouse, Venancio Lorenzo; parents, Florentino (Maura) Barcena; brother, Juanito Barcena.
She is survived by her two daughters, Maura (Leo) Sloan of Las Vegas; and Lucia (Ricky) Kaui of Kapaa; six grandchildren; two step grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and numerous brothers, uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family on Friday, August 23, 2013 at the Garden Island Mortuary Chapel in Lawai at 9 a.m. Service will start at 10 a.m.

John Joseph Taylor, Sr
John Joseph Taylor, Sr. of Lihue passed away on August 3, 2013 at his residence at the Regency Puakea at the age of 92. He was born on July 25, 1921 in New York City, New York and moved to Southern California in 1948. He was retired from the elevator industry as president of Reliable Elevator in 1984. He served in the Navy aboard the USS Broome and the USS New Jersey during WW II.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Dorothy Louise Taylor.
He is survived by his son, John Joseph Taylor, Jr. of Koloa; daughter, Dorothy Bartz of Hemet, California; brother, Richard Taylor of Canyon Lake, CA; three grandchildren, Ben Taylor of Koloa; Kalena Taylor of Koloa and Maile Botelho of Honolulu; four great granddaughters; and nieces, nephews and cousins.
A private Celebration of Life will be held in Koloa.

Shigeko Yamamotoya
Shigeko Yamamotoya of Lihue passed away at Garden Isle Health Care on August 2, 2013, at the age of 77. She was born in Iwakuni, Japan on August 23, 1935, and retired from The Westin Kauai as a cook.
She was preceded in death by her husband Mitsuru Yamamotoya; brother, Kiyomi Hiranaka.
She is survived by her son, Don Yamamotoya of Lihue; daughter, Marie (Gehan) Yamamotoya Devendra of California; three grandchildren, Gideon, Micah and Elijah; two sisters, Toshiko Shimizu and Shizuko (Yoshito) Ogata; sister-in-law, Michie Hiranaka all of Japan; numerous nieces and nephews.
Private services were held.

Albert Keoho, Sr.
Albert Kahukinakamakahukilani Keoho, Sr. of Kapaa passed away on August 8, 2013 at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 69. He was born on May 7, 1944 in Lihue, Kauai, he was a truck driver with Aina Construction.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Rose Leilani Keoho-Garcia.
He survived by his companion, Joann Frey and children of Albert and Yvonne Keoho, two sons, Albert K. Keoho Jr. of California; Philbert (Sherry) Keoho of Hanamaulu; daughter, Kimberly (Joey) Camelo of Hanamaulu; brothers, Edward K. Keoho Sr. of Kauai; Francis Lam of Honolulu and David (Bruna) Lam of Honolulu; hanai brother, Clifford K. (Danette) Lee Sr., hanai sister, Kathy (Matthew) Louis and six grandchildren.
Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, August 14, 2013 at the Garden Island Mortuary Chapel at 9:00am. Service starts at 11:00am. Cremation to follow.

Sachiye Kono Yoshimoto passed away on July 25, 2013 at Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital at the age of 92. She was born on July 20, 1921 in Lihue, Kauai.
She was preceded in death by husband, Robert Kenichi Yoshimoto.
She is survived by her son, Ronald Yoshimoto of Honolulu; Leslie (Lynn) Yoshimoto of Bellevue; and Craig Yoshimoto of Eleele; daughter, Laura (Kenneth) Imamura of Juneau; five grandchildren; numerous nieces; nephews and cousins.

Richard Tasaka of Hanalei passed away July 22, 2013 at Wilcox Memorial Hospital. He was born on March 6,1964 in Lihue. He was preceded in death by his father, Bobby Tasaka
He is survived by his mother, Hatsue Tasaka; brother Alan (Susie) Tasaka; sister Susan (Dwight) Morishige and a few nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Damien D. Victorino of Kapahi, Kauai, Hawaii passed away on August 3, 2013 at his home while surrounded by family at the age of 75. He was born on Kauai. He was a retired Fire Chief of the Kauai Fire Department.
He was preceded in death by parents, Alfred and Elsie Victorino of Kapaa.
He is survived by wife, Elizabeth Victorino; sons, Damien Victorino, Jr. and Bill Victorino; daughter, Angela Ledee; grandchildrens, Billy, Zane Kynan, Dalton, Harlo, Tiana and Mikey.
Service will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2013 at St. Catherine’s Church in Kapaa. There will be a brief viewing from 10:30 to 10:50 am with mass to follow. Following the mass there will be a luncheon at the Kapaa Baseball Park Pavilion.
