Gary Hooser said kudos should go to Ricky Watanabe, County Clerk, and his entire staff who pitched in to ensure the public hearing on Bill 2491 could take place.

Ricky was so busy shuttling between the inside and the outside, but still had time to remind Eddie Topenio to put on a poncho during a passing shower.

Aida Cruz was busy on the inside of the Kauai Veterans Center to ensure everything was in order and got help from Norberto Garcia, commandant of the Kauai Veterans Council.

Kauai Police Chief Darryl Perry came to check on the KPD troops who were on duty for the hearing, and Kaleo Carvalho of the Kauai Bus did an efficient job getting the fleet of buses moving for the free shuttle service to the Vidinha Stadium parking lot.

Mayor Bernard Carvalho Jr. and Wanda Shibata, the governor’s liason, was able to catch part of the hearing and still make it to the Kauai Filipino Chamber of Commerce dinner at the Courtyard by Marriott. Nora Villanueva said Saturday is the Miss Hawaii Filipina Pageant.
