The Kauai Board of Realtors announced the recipients of the 2013 Kauai Board of Realtor’s College and Vocational Scholarship Award.
The scholarship award is an annual board activity that seeks to assist and encourage high school seniors to pursue a post-secondary education.
Since the program’s inception in 2002, the board has awarded over $88,000 in senior scholarships.
Of the 30 applicants this year, with each of the applicants having to submit a biographical summary and sharing their hopes and plans for their future, eight $1,000 scholarships were awarded.
The award winners were as follows:
Trevor McCracken of Kapaa High School. Trevor will be attending the University of California Los Angeles in Los Angeles, California.
Kellee Kikumoto of Kapaa High School. Kellee will be attending Gonzaga Universtiy in Spokane, Wash.
Kimberly McDonough of Island School. Kimberly will be attending the College of Wooster in Wooster, Ohio,
Michael Hallman, who participated in a home schooling program, will be attending Biola Universtiy in La Mirada, Calif.
Joy Claypool of Island School. Joy will be attending St. Olaf University in Northfield, Minn.
Bryson Cayaban of Waimea High School. Bryson will be attending the Universtiy of Colorado Denver, in Denver.
Kylee Iseri of Kauai High School. Kylee will be attending the University of Hawaii Manoa in Honolulu.
Kiana Rodriguez of Kauai High School, Kiana will be attending Southern Oregon University in Ashland, Ore.
The primary funding source for this year’s scholarship program was a Vegas Fun Night held last year at the Kauai Beach Resort.
