Motorcyclist dies following traffic crash

KAPAA – A motorcyclist died following a traffic collision in Kapaa on Saturday.

His identity has not been released.

The 52-year-old Kapaa man was heading north on Kuhio Highway fronting Kintaro Restaurant about 5 p.m., when he was struck by a southbound sedan driven by a Kapaa woman turning left onto Lanikai Street from the highway.

The motorcyclist was transported to Wilcox Hospital where he was pronounced dead. According to police, he was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.

The 82-year-old sedan driver was also transported to Wilcox Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

This is the third traffic fatality on Kauai this year.
