Feral goat control permits for Hunting Unit F available

LIHUE — The Department of Land and Natural Resources, Division of Forestry and Wildlife is inviting interested individuals to assist the division in an animal control of feral goats in the area of Hunting Unit F on Kauai.

Animal control is being limited to archery use due to safety concerns. A valid hunting license is required to sign an animal control permit.

The public archery only period participation in the control of feral goats will proceed on weekends and state holidays from July 20 through Dec. 29. The limit is two feral goats (either sex) per hunter, per day.

Animals may be de-boned in the field. Blaze orange will not be required for the archery only season.

Access to Unit F is permitted through Waimea Valley. Participants will be required to check in and out at the Waimea Valley, Waimea Heights, Mango Tree, or Kokee hunter check stations.

Animal control permits will be available at the Lihue DOFAW office at 3060 Eiwa St., Room 306, Lihue, HI 96766. Additional information is available at the DOFAW office or call 274-3433.
