Estanislao ‘Islao’ Ancheta
Estanislao “Islao” Ancheta of Kealia, Kauai, passed away on June 9, 2013, at his home at the age of 97. He was born on November 10, 1915 in the Philippines. He was a retired Irrigator with the Sugar Plantation.
He is survived by his wife, Rosenda Anchesta; his four sons; Raymond (Sandra) Ancheta; Benjamin (Stacy) Ancheta; Stanley Ancheta; Eugene Ancheta; one daughter, Alvina (Tony) Baduria; two sisters, Caridad Calibuso; Encarnation Fernando; 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
Friends may visit with the family on Monday, July 8, 2013 at St. Catherine’s Church in Kapaa from 8:00 am to 9:45 am where mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am and burial to follow at Kauai Memorial Gardens. Family suggests omit flowers and casual attire.
Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick Kauai Mortuary.
Robert ‘Max’ Pratico
Robert “Max” Pratico of Humboldt, Iowa and Kekaha, Kauai, Hawaii. Passed away on January 28, 2013 at the age of 57, at Humboldt, Iowa. He was born on May 25, 1955 in New Jersey. He worked at Westin, Kauai.
He is preceded in death by his father, Vincent Pratico, New Jersey.
He is survived by his wife, Cindy Pratico, Humboldt, Iowa; daughters, Katie Pratico, Waimea, Kauai; Kacie Pratico, Lawai, Kauai; sister, Chrisrtina Hundley; brothers, Vincient Pratico; Joey Pratico.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, July 6, 2013 at Salt Pond Park at 11:00 am.
Melvin David Kailikea, Jr.
Melvin David Kailikea, Jr. of Kapaa, Kauai passed away on June 29, 2013 at Samuel Mahelona Memorial Hospital at the age of 78. He was born on March 18, 1935 in the family’s home in Nawiliwili, Kauai.
He is survived by his brother, Malcolm H. Kailikea; his sister, Leila K. Christensen.
Private Service to be held at a later date at the family’s burial site.
Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick/Kauai Mortuary.
Bernard Peralta
Bernard Peralta of Kalaheo passed away on June 24, 2013 at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 64. Born on March 22, 1949, in Lihue, Kauai, he was a Cook at Sheraton Hotel.
He is survived by his wife, Corrine Peralta; son, Shane Peralta of Kalaheo; daughter, Shanna Peralta of Wisconsin; mother, Felomina Peralta; brothers, John Peralta of Shelton WA, Ronnie Peralta of Kekaha, Ferdinand Peralta of Tacoma WA, and Willard G. (Susanna) Peralta of Maui; sisters, Gwen Luii of Tacoma WA, and Bernie Devitt of Wailua; and five grandchildren.
A Memorial service will be held on Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at the Kauai Veterans Cemetery Pavilion. Friends may visit with the family from 10am, service starts at 11am.

Chokichi ‘Hank’ Tamashiro
Chokichi “Hank” Tamashiro of Kapaa passed away at Garden Isle Health Care on June 21, 2013, at the age of 91. He was born in Lahaina, Maui on July 1, 1921, and retired from the State of Hawaii Highways Division.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Sueko “Sue” Tamashiro and son, Lloyd.
He is survived by three sons, Wayne (Ruby), Randall (Donna) and Warren (Arceli); daughter-in-law, Judy; brother, Susumu (Joyce); three sisters, Yoshiko (Shikisei) Awakuni, Kimie Nojima, Toyoko (Edwin) Lee; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Private graveside services were held.
Kauai Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home assisted the Tamashiro family with arrangements.
