Estanisloa ‘Islao’ Ancheta
Estanisloa “Islao” D. Ancheta of Kealia, Kauai, passed away on June 9, 2013, at his home at the age of 97. He was born on November 10, 1915 in the Philippines. He was a retired Irrigator with the Sugar Plantation.
He is survived by his wife, Rosenda Anchesta; his four sons; Raymond (Sandra) Ancheta; Benjamin (Stacy) Ancheta; Stanley Ancheta; Eugene Ancheta; one daughter, Alvina (Tony) Baduria; two sisters, Caridad Calibuso; Encarnation Fernando; 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
Friends may visit with the family on Monday, July 8, 2013 at St. Catherine’s Church in Kapaa from 8:00 am to 9:45 am where mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am and burial to follow at Kauai Memorial Gardens. Family suggests omit flowers and casual attire.
Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick Kauai Mortuary.
Doris Takashima
Doris Yoki Takashima, 94, of Kapaa Kauai, passed away at home on June 17, 2013. Born on December 23, 1918 in Koloa Kauai, she was a retired Big Save sales clerk.
Preceded in death by her husband, Sadamu Takashima; and grandson, David Takashima.
She is survived by her sons, Wayne (Lynn) Takashima of Torrance CA and Mervin (Julene) Takashima of Aiea HI; daughters, Lynn (Gilbert) Kurata of Pearl City HI and Merle Takashima of Kapaa HI; brothers-in-law, Clarence Gadget Takashima of Kapaa and Maui Ogata of Palolo; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Friends may visit with the family on Sunday, June 30, 2013, 1:00 pm at All Saints Episcopal Church in Kapaa. Memorial service will start at 2:00 pm.

Shigeo Uyeda
Shigeo Uyeda, 94, of Eleele, Kauai, passed away at Kauai Veteran’s Memorial Hospital on May 18, 2013. Born on December 13, 1918 in Hanapepe, Kauai, he was a Supervisor with McBryde Sugar Co.
He is survived by his two sons, Aaron (Kathy) Uyeda of Waimea and Paul (Kit) Uyeda of Aiea Oahu; two daughters, Lois (Duane) Garrison of Lakewood WA and Eve Kurasaki of Eleele; two brothers, Hurley Ueda of Calif and Kenneth (Leilani) Ueda of Calif; three sisters, Flossy (George) Nakazawa of Oahu, Frances (Joe) Nishikawa of Calif, and Edith Horikawa of Calif; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A private service was held. Family requests no koden.

Shawn Leong
Shawn Angelo Chung Leong of Kilauea passed away at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on June 14, 2013, at the age of 51. He was born in Honolulu, Hawaii on May 9, 1962, and worked in construction as a mason.
He is survived by his wife, Jeannine Leong; two sons; Makaia (Tatijana) Leong and Nainoa (Tiare) Leong; two daughters; Sharai (Phillip) Soltren and Tessie (Robert) Boyer; six grandchildren, Taina, Ka’eo, Lehua, Kiele, Kawena and Kailea; father, Richard Leong Sr; mother, Evon Sparacino; two brothers, Richard “Rick” (Renee) Leong Jr., Curt (Jessica) Leong; four sisters, Leola Leong, Lititia Carreira, Lavida Leong, Lavel (Robert) Brito; numerous aunties, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial services will be held on Saturday, June 29 with visitation from 1 p.m. and services beginning at 2 p.m. at Kilauea Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 2453 Kolo Rd, Kilauea. Family graciously declines flowers.
Kauai Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home assisted the Leong family with arrangements.
Dudie Kaohi
Dudie Ono Kaohi, 92, of Hanapepe Kauai, passed away at home on June 21, 2013. Born on November 19, 1920 in Kalaheo Kauai, he was a WWII Veteran and a retired foreman with Hawaiian Dredging.
He is survived by his sons, Wayne and David Kaohi, both of Honolulu; daughter, Debra Kaohi of Honolulu; caregivers, Larry and Valerie Freitas of Kalaheo; brothers, Clarence (Lily) Kaohi of Eleele, and Ronald (Margie) Kaohi of Honolulu; sisters, Mercedes Ching of Hanapepe, Betty Kaleohano of Hanapepe, and Arlene (Edmund) Naholoholo of California; five grandchildren; one hanai-grandson; eleven great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, July 6, 2013 from 9am to 10am, at the Hanapepe Hawaiian Congregational Church. Funeral service will be from 10am to 12 noon. Burial will follow at Kauai Veteran’s Cemetery. Flowers are welcome and casual attire suggested.
