Pacencia Sapalasan
Pacencia Igaya Sapalasan of Hanapepe passed away at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on June 14, 2013 at the age of 71. She was born on January 25, 1942 in the Philippines. She was a housekeeper with Kauai Sands Hotel.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Pablo Sapalasan.
She is survived by her sons, Romeo (Glory) Sapalasan of Alaska; Rudy (Laurie) Sapalasan of Honolulu; and Randy (Alna) Sapalasan of Hanapepe; daughters, Nenita (Philip) Sapalasan Vigilia of Kaumakani and Elisa (Gary) Sapalasan Lopez of Pakala; brothers, Saverino (Saturnina) Igaya of Kapaa; Marcelino (Donna) Igaya of Koloa; Mario Igaya of Hanapepe; Ricardo (Regina) Igaya of Arizona; and Ramon (Reveena) Igaya of Kailua Kona; sister, Lucita (Francisco) Gawaran of Eleele; fourteen grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 28, 2013 at the Garden Island Mortuary Chapel in Lawai. Friends may visit with the family from 9:00 am, service starts at 11am. Burial will follow at Hanapepe Public Cemetery. Family suggests casual attire.

Raymond Espino Jr.
Raymond “Kokosoy” Espino Jr., 55, of Hanapepe passed away at Kauai Veteran’s Memorial Hospital on June 10, 2013. Born on March 29, 1958 in Waimea, Kauai, he was a Heavy equipment operator with the County of Kauai.
Preceded in death by his mother, Carol Cabacungan Espino. He is survived by his wife, Linda Marie McDaniels-Espino; four daughters, Tiffany Espino-Tubon of Honolulu, Carlina Marie Espino-Balino of Hanapepe, Victoria Ann Espino of Hanapepe, and Alana Lian Espino of Koloa; father, Raymond Espino Sr.; two brothers, Robby Lee Espino and Anson Makana Espino, both of Kaumakani; two sisters, Melanie Espino Honjo of Kalaheo, and Lorelei “Lola” Espino-Campos of Kipu; seven grandchildren; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A memorial service was held on Saturday, June 22 at the Kauai Christian Fellowship.

Shirley Jones
Shirley Ruth Jones, of Eden Prairie, MN, formerly of Bloomington, MN, and Princeville, Kauai, passed peacefully on January 3, 2013 at the age of 93.
She is preceded in death by beloved husband; James (Albert), parents; Arthur and Iva Osten-Sacken, brother; LeRoy Osten-Sacken, sister; Arlene Wilson, and son-in-law Mark Laybourn.
Shirley is survived by her children; Peggy (Don) Bogle, Patricia (Charles) Brown, Cynthia Laybourn, Lynn (Lane) Burger, and Laurie Custer; 14 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Memorial was celebrated on Saturday, June 15th at 2:00 pm with visitation 1 hour prior at the Washburn-McReavy Chapel in Edina (952-920-3996) and reception to follow.
Interment Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Memorials preferred to charity of choice.
Shawn Leong
Shawn Angelo Chung Leong of Kilauea passed away at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on June 14, 2013, at the age of 51. He was born in Honolulu, Hawaii on May 9, 1962, and worked in construction as a mason.
He is survived by his wife, Jeannine Leong; two sons; Makaia (Tatijana) Leong and Nainoa (Tiare) Leong; two daughters; Sharai (Phillip) Soltren and Tessie (Robert) Boyer; six grandchildren, Taina, Ka’eo, Lehua, Kiele, Kawena and Kailea; father, Richard Leong Sr; mother, Evon Sparacino; two brothers, Richard “Rick” (Renee) Leong Jr., Curt (Jessica) Leong; four sisters, Leola Leong, Lititia Carreira, Lavida Leong, Lavel (Robert) Brito; numerous aunties, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial services will be held on Saturday, June 29 with visitation from 1 p.m. and services beginning at 2 p.m. at Kilauea Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 2453 Kolo Rd, Kilauea. Family graciously declines flowers.
Kauai Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home assisted the Leong family with arrangements.
Maxine Teixeira
Maxine Teixeira of Lihue, passed away on June 18, 2013 at her home at the age of 88. She was born on June 21, 1924 in Minnesota. She was a retired agent for Budget Rental Car.
She is preceded in death by parents, Albin & Sophia Landgren; husband John “Tex” Teixeira; son, Ronald Teixeira; and daughter, Carla Briggs.
She is survived by her son Richard (Fradelle) Teixeira; daughters, Sharon Teixeira, Cindy (Donny) Ortega; sister, Judy Perkinson; 4 grandchildren & 1 great granddaughter.
A celebration of Maxine’s life will be held on Saturday, June 29 11:30 am at Lihue Lutheran Church. Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick Kauai Mortuary.
