LIHUE — Everyone has an opportunity to win at the Kapaa High School Foundation golf tournament coming up July 6 at the Wailua Golf Course.
Art Fujita, the Golf Tournament Committee chair, said the Foundation has a lofty goal of $50,000 so it can provide continued funding for the Kapaa High School Project Grad, the Senior Student Grant program, the Outstanding Educator Award, senior project, and the school’s athletic programs, including the Special Olympics Unified Sports program.
The Kapaa High School Foundation also provides funding for other school activities including the National Honor Society, the Peer Mediation Team, SAT training courses, the robotics team, Virtual Enterprise and the school’s science fair.
Applications for the tournament are available at the Wailua Golf Course, the Foundation’s website at www.kapaahighschoolfoundation.org, or by calling Fujita (651-4325), Brian Fujiuchi (246-1162), or Tad Miura Jr. (245-3304).
Fujita said people who are not golfers are also able to participate as individual volunteers or as a class.
“Volunteers are needed to provide soft drinks to the golfers, assist at the Par 3 stations, help at the registration desk, help at the luncheon, which will be held at the Kapaa Hongwanji Mission, set up, clean up, and snack shop,” Fujita said.
The chair of the Golf Committee also encourages classes to sponsor a golfing classmate, sponsor one of the 18 holes, or simply donate to the class to benefit the Foundation.
