The fourth Veterans Affairs Rural Health site on Kaua‘i will be open in Kekaha from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. today.
Located at the Westside Christian Center at 8041 Kekaha Road, the VA Rural Health site will be open every Friday.
The Department of Veterans Affairs Kaua‘i Community Based Outpatient Clinic has a goal to reach new veterans in the distant North and West area of Kaua‘i who have not accessed VA services in the past, states a VA release.
“We are so thankful for the community support and have been receiving positive feedback from our veterans accessing information at these locations,” said Charlene Burgess, a VA Kaua‘i CBOC social worker.
Veterans accessing the Kekaha VA Rural Health site as well as the three other VA Rural Health sites will meet a team that can provides information on VA services and benefits and onsite mental health treatment.
Veterans are asked to bring a legible copy of their military discharge paper unless they are already enrolled with VA.
Other VA Rural Health sites include the Hanapepe United Church of Christ which is open each Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m., the Hale Halawai Community Center in Hanalei which is open each Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., and the Christ Memorial Church Parish Hall in Kilauea, which is open each Monday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.
