LIHU‘E — If SugarDaddie.com has its way, a city on O‘ahu will be renamed after the online dating site.
After tempting several American cities, including Sugar Hill, Ga., Woodside, Calif. and Sugar Land, Texas, with millions of dollars — in one case, $11.65 million — to change its name to SugarDaddie.com, USA, the founders of SugarDaddie.com have set their eyes on Hawai‘i for their next offer.
“We’re not saying which city yet,” says Steve Pasternack, CEO of SugarDaddie.com, “but we’ll reveal the city and the deal points in early April.”
The company has hinted that the location will be somewhere on O‘ahu and the offer will include at least $10 million to the government to be able to reinvest in the community, according to a news release. In addition to an official name change, the deal would include changing local government signage and the presentation of a key to the city.
“Hawai‘i has a long, rich and beautiful history, and we would really love to be part of it,” Pasternack says. “SugarDaddie Island? We’re trying.”
Launched in 2002, SugarDaddie.com is the original online meeting place “where the classy, attractive and affluent can meet,” according to the site, which has been featured by numerous media outlets including ABC Nightline, The Dr. Phil Show, The Huffington Post and The New York Times.
