The Office of Economic Development, Tourism Section continues to work to utilize kauaifestivals.com to harness the “Power of Celebration” and encourages our local event organizers to come onboard the celebration train and use it to advertise their events.
The only real requirement to be on the site is that the event be safe, legal and be an event both visitors and kama‘aina would be interested in attending.
The Kauaifestivals.com website was created to help get the word out about all the really great things there are happening all over the island and, over the years, this project has continued to morph into the great product that it is today, representing all kinds of events that happen throughout the year.
The website tries to list events going forward for two years to try to allow for planning of vacations and also for planning of future events. It helps to keep events from stepping on each other’s dates which may happen on the same weekend and thus depleting important pools of volunteers and participants. Thus this website becomes an important planning tool for event organizers.
The website is managed daily by the Tourism Section of OED. It allows an event organizer or promoter to simply click on a “submit event” button on the front of the website’s main page and enter information that is submitted to the office for upload, including up to five photos.
In addition, if a person has multiple events that they do throughout the year they may decide to get a username and password and enter their own events to control their content which is another option to work the site.
Last year, the OED launched the mobile version of the site which is being very well received. In addition to the site itself, the office has a marketing support program for the site that is run through the Kaua‘i Visitors Bureau, promoting traffic to the website via email blasts, print ads and online media. The goal of the site is to drive traffic to the events and help our events thrive.
The OED would like to thank our partners on this project, the Kaua‘i Visitors Bureau, Tsunami Marketing, Hawai‘i Tourism Authority and the many Kaua’i event organizers who have allowed us to test the site on their incredible events. Mahalo.
