LIHU‘E — Saturday was a day of splits, as the Kaua‘i Ballers split its Boys Division 3 games, 67-40 over Papalina and 14-32 against Westside Basketball, at the Kalaheo Neighborhood Center.
Team Lihu‘e, in the Girls Division 2 games, also split its series, Lihu‘e Red dropping 5-30 against the Kaua‘i Ballers before rebounding to a 42-22 showing over Hanakila.
In the final series, the Team Lihu‘e Boys Division 3 games saw Lihu‘e Red boys drop both ends, 7-55 to Hanakila and 37-58 to Lepo Ula.
Kaua‘i Ballers 1’s low post Morris Unutoa set the pace with a game-high 21 points followed by Saxsen Shiira adding 10 points in the win. Brayden Miyamoto and Noah Sasil led the Papalina effort on nine and eight points, respectively.
D.J. Pabre took the lead for Westside Basketball, firing off a dozen points with Denez Haley adding seven points in the win over the Kaua‘i Ballers 2 who got seven points from Limuel Julian and four from Lester Manique.
Triston Hawelu coughed up a game-high 18 points to lead Hanakila in its 55-7 win over Team Lihu‘e Red in the Boys Division 3 games, Lihu‘e Red getting five of the team’s seven points from Junah Corpuz. Carson Schmick added 11 points for Hanakila with Lexton Camat and Lawrence Abela each finishing with eight points.
Jasper Jacinto ended with a game-high 16 points for Team Lihu‘e Black, Boys Division 3, but the effort came up short despite Tajh Mapuhi adding six points.
Kelly Ragasa topped the Lepo Ula scoring with 14 points in its 58-37 win, Edmelle Medina adding eight points with Taylon Yadao and Keoni Gaoiran each finishing with seven marks.
On the girls arena, Paea Tafea topped the Kaua‘i Ballers’ scoring with 10 points followed by Tamare Daligcon-Pomaikai adding seven points in its 30-5 win over Team Lihu‘e Red, Marissa Layosa and Tiana Manera each bucketing a pair in the effort.
Sierra Neves ended with a game-high 18 points to lead Team Lihu‘e Black to its 42-22 showing over Hanakila, Jaliyah Casem topping the North Shore girls scoring with 11 points followed by Joy Milbrand with nine points.
The county’s Boys Division 3, or players in the seventh and eighth grades, will take the floor today with three games starting at 6 p.m. at the Kalaheo Neighborhood Center.
Papalina will open against Team Lihu‘e Black starting at 6 p.m. followed by Hanapepe meeting Team Central Silver at 7 p.m. Team Central Black will close against Lepo Ula starting at 8 p.m.
