Orlando Padilla
Orlando “Vicente” Padilla of Brydeswood, Kalaheo, died on Feb. 6, 2013 at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 86. Born on Nov. 2, 1926, in Kipu, Kauai, he was a food service worker with Wilcox Hospital.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Victor Padilla and Datiba; brother, Paul; and sister, Datiba.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia Padilla; son, Bennie Padilla; daughter, Virgielyn Padilla; brothers, Alfred Padilla, Aurilio Padilla, Santos Padilla, George Padilla, and Charles Padilla, all of Honolulu, and Raymond Padilla of California; sister, Cralina Tacderan of Honolulu; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2013 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, with 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. visitation, and Mass celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will be at Lihue Cemetery.
Arrangements were handled by Garden Island Mortuary, Ltd.
Laura Toma
Laura Matsue Toma of Kapaa passed away at home on Feb. 25, 2013, at the age of 90. She was born in Honolulu on May 19, 1922.
She was a homemaker and seamstress.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Toma.
She is survived by her three daughters, Linda Akana of Oahu, Sherrie (Howard) Carvalho, Wanda (Ian) Costa of Kapaa; 12 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; brother, Stephen Fukuda of Oahu; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of her life will be held on Friday, March 8, 2013 at Kapaa Hongwanji with visitation from 8 a.m. and services beginning at 9 a.m. Inurnment will be held at a later date at Valley of the Temples.
Kauai Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home assisted the Toma family with arrangements.
Victor Bailey Jr.
Victor Gentry Bailey Jr. of Kapaa passed away at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on Feb. 10, 2013, at the age of 63.
He was born in Atlanta, Georgia on Nov. 29, 1949, and was a self-employed musician and farmer.
He is survived by four sons, Gandharva Mahina Hou (TammyLynn) Ross of Molokai, Pueo (Dena) Ross of Las Vegas, Kuau (Ellie) Garsson of New Jersey, Victor “River” (Natalie) Bailey III of Sweden,; one daughter, Jade Decker of Germany; 8 grandchildren; two brothers, Charles “Chuck” (Alison) Bailey and Don (Anne) Bailey of Atlanta, Georgia; one sister, Glenda Bailey of Atlanta, Georgia.
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2013, at Kealia Beach (Hanalei side) beginning at 10 a.m.
Kauai Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home assisted Victor’s family with arrangements.
