The Kaua‘i High School Red Raiders girls paddling varsity crew ended its post season this past weekend by capturing second place in the King Kalakaua Invitational Regatta at Keehi Lagoon on O‘ahu. The Red Raiders ended its KIF season by a judgement call causing them to lose the championship and the chance to go to the state races. The Red Raiders, under the leadership of its coach, Lori Parraga, and assistant coach Alison Katahira, entered the King Kalakaua Invitational Regatta. Racing against 12 crews in a 1/2 mile race, the Raiders finished at 4:35.71, only to be edged out by three seconds by Waianae High School 4:32.75, the OIA champions. The King Kalakaua Invitational Regatta is comprised of races from top canoe clubs from around the state. The crew consists of senior steersman Tirah Yamamoto and senior paddlers Jamie Alana, Roshayne Peahu, Wai Cordeiro, Taylor Samiano and Tia Morishige.
