HANAMA‘ULU — The public is invited to a Safe Schools Safe Transitions event Saturday at the King Kaumuali‘i Elementary School cafeteria in Hanama‘ulu.
Located at 4348 Hanama‘ulu Road, registration starts at 8:30 a.m. with the program running from 9 a.m. to noon.
“This event started as a supporting event for students with disabilities and their families,” said William Arakaki, the Kaua‘i Area Complex superintendent, in an email. “We encourage all interested students and families to attend who may not have a child with disabilities.”
Leolinda Parlin, the guest speaker for the event, will be speaking on safe transitions for a child, how to help a child deal with bullying, and guardianship vs. power of attorney topics.
A continental breakfast will be served for participants.
Additionally, informational booths hosted by various agencies will also be available for viewing and browsing.
Safe Schools, Safe Transitions is hosted in partnership with the Department of Education, the Kaua‘i Community Children’s Council, Hawai‘i Families as Allies, Children with Special Health Needs, the State Council on Developmental Disabilities and the Kaua‘i Developmental Disabilities Committee.
