Portion of Merriman’s menu helps United Way, Oct. 6

PO‘IPU — Merriman’s Kaua‘i restaurant will be celebrating its third anniversary of serving locally grown, handcrafted food on Kaua‘i by donating a portion of sales at both its upstairs formal and downstairs informal menus all day Oct. 6.

Proceeds from this special anniversary event will be added to the 2012 Kaua‘i United Way Annual Campaign, which is currently under way.

All Merriman’s Kaua‘i dishes are made with 90 percent locally grown ingredients.

Kaua‘i United Way, the island’s umbrella charitable organization, supports dozens of social service programs which save lives and helps tens of thousands of Kaua‘i people each year.

Scott Giarman, executive director for KUW, said money raised on Kaua‘i stays on Kaua‘i.
