Kenneth Torigoe
Kenneth Kenjo Torigoe of Lihu‘e, Kaua‘i, passed away on May 2, 2012, at Straub Clinic and Medical Hospital at the age of 66. He was born in Lihu‘e, Kaua‘i.
He is survived by wife, Karen Torigoe; daughters, Kimberly Torigoe and Kellie Torigoe; sisters, Esther (Walter) Nakata, Marian (Benjiman) Ligsay and Jane (Terry) Sasahara; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Maria Medina
Maria Santos Medina of ‘Ele‘ele, Kaua‘i, died on May 25, 2012, at Kaua‘i Veterans Memorail Hospital at the age of 83. She was born to Ciriaco and Leonora on Oct. 22, 1928, in the Philippines. She was a retired corn field worker with Pioneer.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Candido Lorenzo Medina; son, Orlando Medina; son in-law, Faustino Fernando; brother, Franciso Santos; and a sister, Leonarda Sugitan.
She is survived by her six sons, Nelson (Elizabeth) Medina of ‘Ele‘ele, Carlos (Wilma) Medina of ‘Ele‘ele, Limuel (Marcelina) Medina of Kaumakani, Arthur (Fe) Medina of Kaumakani, Edmond (Mylene) Medina of Kaumakani and Litho (Charlene) Medina of Koloa; three daughters, Estrella Fernando of ‘Ele‘ele, Marilyn (Arnold) Corpuz of Kaumakani and Leony Medina of Kaumakani; 27 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; a brother, Genaro Santos Sr. of the Philippines; and a sister, Feliciana Santos of the Philippines. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at the Holy Cross Church. Visitation will be at 9 a.m. Mass to follow at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be held at Hanapepe Public Cemetery.
Family suggests casual attire.

Monico Viernes
Monico V. Viernes of Hanama‘ulu, Kaua‘i, passed away on June 15, 2012, at Garden Isle Healthcare at the age of 98. He was born on Feb. 12, 1914, in the Philippines. He was a retired laborer for the sugar industry.
Monico is survived by his wife, Albina Viernes; son, Michael (Victoria) Viernes of Honolulu; two grandchildren, Megan and Micah; two brothers, Patrocinio (Agripina) Viernes and Adriano (Jovita) Viernes; and numerous relatives.
Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday, July 3 at Immaculate Conception Church from 8 a.m. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens.

Carol Kelekoma
Carol Ann Kelekoma of Kapa‘a, Kaua‘i, died on June 8, 2012, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 50. She was born to Yoshio Higa and Charlotte McCumsey on Sept. 19, 1961, in Lihu‘e, Kaua‘i. She was a homemaker.
She is survived by her husband, Jeffrey K. Kelekoma Sr.; three sons, Jeffrey Jr., Justin and Brandon Kelekoma, all of Kapa‘a; five daughters, Tina K. Miyoshi, Joann, Justine, Jamilyn and Carol Ann Kelekoma, all of Kapa‘a; 10 grandchildren; three brothers, Clyde Higa of Kapa‘a, Glenn Higa of Anahola and Clayton Higa of O‘ahu; and two sisters, Cindy Delima of Kona and Lisa Higa of Kapa‘a.
Services will be held on Saturday, July 7, 2012, at the Garden Island Mortuary Chapel. Viewing will be from 9 a.m. to noon. Burial to follow at the Lihu‘e Public Cemetery.

Marty Sanders
Marty Craig Sanders of Kalaheo died on March 12, 2012, in Cary, N.C.
Born on July 10, 1955, Marty was a longtime Kaua‘i resident. After retiring from the construction industry in 2005, Marty enjoyed long walks with his dog, Clint, and playing golf with friends at Kukuiolono.
Marty was preceded in death by his parents, John Wesley Sanders and Rachel Page Sanders.
He is survived by his brother, John Sanders of Moraga, Calif.
Private services were held.
Judith Emerson
Judith “Judy” M. Emerson of Po‘ipu, Kaua‘i, passed away on June 12, 2012, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 67. She was born on Jan. 30, 1945, in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. She was a retired flight attendant with United Airlines and a professor of psychology at Dominguez Hills College in California.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Gertrude Burton.
She is survived by her husband, Thomas “Tom” Emerson of Po‘ipu; step-sons, Steven (Heidi) Emerson of California; Craig Emerson of California; Jon (Charlene) Emerson of California; and Jay (Darcy) Emerson of California; sister, Valerie Ventura of Po‘ipu; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A private celebration of life will be held.

Dionicio “Pedong” Alfredo Purisima of Kalaheo, Kaua‘i, passed away on June 21, 2012, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 82. He was born on Oct. 9, 1929, in Cabugao Ilocos Sur, Philippines. He was a irrigator for McBryde Sugar Plantation.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Glynda Purisima; parents, Anatalio and Melchora Purisima; and brother, David Purisima.
He is survived by his wife, Gregoria “Goyang” Purisima of Kalaheo; sons, Bernard (Christie) Purisima of Lihu‘e and Arnel (Shana Oyama) Purisima of ‘Ele‘ele; daughter, Arlene (Nick Arruda) Purisima of Lihu‘e; sisters, Eugenia Peralta of the Philippines, Lourdes Mirasol of the Philippines and Nina Sapilo of the Philippines; brother Thomas Purisima of the Philippines; nine grandchildren; and numerous aunties, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Friends may visit with the family on Friday, July 13, at the Purisima residence, 2067 Peleleu St., Kalaheo. Visitation will be 6 to 9 p.m. On Saturday, July 14, visitation will be at 9 a.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Kalaheo. Mass to be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at St. Raphael Catholic Cemetery, Koloa.

Vicenta Omakanim Remata of Makaweli, Kaua‘i, passed away on June 25, 2012, at the age of 103. She was born on Sept. 11, 1908, in Bugu, Cebu, Philippines. She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Crisanto Remata; mother, Matiya Luok; brothers, Domingo Omakanim and Joseph Omakanim; sister, Brihida Villamor; and daughter-in-law, Donna Remata.
She is survived by her sons, David (Mercy) Remata of Makaweli, Edward (Berna) Remata of Makaweli, Alfredo (Flora) Remata of Lihu‘e, Richard Remata of Honolulu, Stanley (Norma) Remata of Honolulu, Wifred Remata of California, Lawrence Remata of California and Patrick Remata of California; daughters, Mildred (Bernardo) Olores of Kekaha and Elizabeth (Elepedio) Aquino of Lihu‘e; sister Florence Remata, Order of Saint Francis, Lihu‘e and Vivian (Alvis) Nonaka of California; 28 grandchildren; 54 great grandchildren; 16 great-great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law Dolores Omakanim of Waimea.

Robert Duane Lowe passed away on June 25, 2012, at Garden Isle Healthcare at the age of 86. He was born on March 15, 2012, in Illinois and was a retired carpenter.
He was preceded in death by Consolacion “Connie” Mariano Lowe.
He is survived by his daughter, Patricia (Tom) Fermazin; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Sally “Soling” Eufemia Ceballos Edayan of Waimea, Kaua‘i, passed away on June 17, 2012, at Garden Island Healthcare. She was born on March 20, 1926, in Waimea, Kaua‘i. She was a tax examiner for the State of Hawai‘i.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Marcelino and Apolonia Ceballos; and brothers Francisco “Kikoy” Ceballos and Lorenzo “Tining” Ceballos.
She is survived by her sons, Leonard (Colleen) Edayan of Kaua‘i and Clyde Edayan of Kaua‘i; daughter Cynthia (Jack) Waters of O‘ahu; brother Clem Ceballos of Kaua‘i; sister Betty Parraga of Kaua‘i; three grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Roy Yasay of Kaumakani, Kaua‘i, died on June 24, 2012, at Kaua‘i Veterans Memorial Hospital at the age of 47. He was born on Aug. 15, 1964, in Waimea, Kaua‘i. He was a truck driver and a crane operator.
He was preceded in death by his parent, Domingo Yasay; brother, Howard Yasay; and hanai son, Kapena Bridges.
He is survived by his mother, Maria Yasay of Kaumakani; two sons, Joseph Licayan of Kekaha and Travis Mawae of Sacramento, Calif.; three daughters, Kawai Yasay of Kekaha, Desiree Yasay of Kekaha and hanai daughter, Kelsey Bridges of Waimea; six brothers, Rollin (Fely) Yasay of Kunia, Marvin (Maria) Yasay of ‘Ele‘ele, Andy (Argea) Yasay of Wailua, George Yasay of Pearl City, Delano Yasay of Kaumakani and Chris Yasay of Honolulu; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
