Rilen Loo finished in third place for the Boys 11-12 with a 163 at the 2012 Ka‘anapali PGA Junior Championships, Aloha Section Saturday on Maui.
Rilen, one of three Kaua‘i Junior Golfers participating in the two-day tournament at Ka‘anapali Kai Course, finished with a two-day 163 after improving by three strokes Saturday, over his opening round 83.
The division was won by Evan Kawai of Honolulu who carded an 11-over par 151 (75-76).
Keegan Loo, playing in the Boys 13-14 age group, finished in sixth place with a two-day 156 (76-80). Taisei Negishi of Hilo topped the division on a three-over par 143 (72-71).
Pono Tokioka, the No. 1 boys golfer for Kaua‘i High School, opened with a one-over par 71 for a tie with Kalena Preus of Honolulu for 11th place on Friday.
But Tokioka stumbled Saturday, dropping 10 strokes over his Friday showing to end with an 81 for a two-day 151, tying with Ryan Lloyd of Honolulu and Rhett Wiseman of Lahaina, Maui.
John Oda of Honolulu, blistering with a five-under par 65 on opening day, continued to finish with a four-under par 66 Saturday to take the tournament on a two-day 131 (65-66), followed eight strokes back by Richard Hattori of Honolulu.
Ethan Dezzani of Honolulu (78-71-149) topped the Boys 7-10. Marissa Uradomo of Kula, Maui (74-70-144) took the Girls 15-18 division. Mariel Galdiano of Pearl City, O‘ahu (66-72-138) took the 2012 Qualifier spot for the girls. Aneka Seumanutafa of Kapolei, O‘ahu (76-76-152) topped the Girls 11-12. And Milburn Ho (80-78-158), also a member of the Kaua‘i Junior Golf Association, topped the Girls 7-10 division by just one stroke over Joy Callinan (80-79-159) of Makawao, Maui, the battle being settled Saturday after both girls tied Friday.
Oda and Galdiano earned spots in the Junior PGA Championship which will play July 31 to Aug. 3 at Sycamore Hills Golf Club in Fort Wayne, Ind.
