The cure for hot summer days

With the dog days of summer just over the horizon, we are starting to feel the heat creep in. On these hot summer days, a cool and refreshing drink in a lovely and historic atmosphere is the perfect remedy for a blistering summer day.

Plantation Gardens Restaurant, located at 2253 Po‘ipu Road in Po‘ipu, offers hand-crafted, in-house drinks that are savory and can uplift any sort of melancholy caused by the sun gods.

These delicious drinks are accompanied with a view of the pristine Moir Garden. The historic garden, which gained international recognition in 1948 as one of the top 10 best cactus and succulents gardens in the world, is currently filled with thousands upon thousands of orchids, exotic cacti and other native plants.

The wonderful staff at Plantation Gardens presented their signature drink: the Cucumber Mojito, priced at $9.25. This refreshing drink originated in-house. Mint leaves, lime wedges and ginger-infused simple syrup are blended together, then poured in a mason jar with crushed ice.

Next, cucumber rum and soda water are stirred in and spiral cut cucumbers are placed above the ice to top it off.

The Cucumber Mojito has a unique and extraordinary taste. Immediately upon impact with the taste buds, this cool and crisp combination electrifies the body, temporarily dissipates the summer heat and masks it with a breezy blend of delicious minty infusion. It is a wonderful drink for any occasion, but particularly splendid on scorching summer days.

Other drinks that are highly recommended at Plantation Gardens include the Hibiscus Cooler, crafted from hibiscus vodka, St. Germain liqueur and hand squeezed lime, and the Lychee and Asian Pear Cosmo, made from lychee and Asian pear vodka and ginger-infused simple syrup. All hand-crafted drinks are specially made in-house and are all priced at $9.25.

Plantation Gardens is open daily from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. For reservations and more information call (808) 742-2121 or visit
