KOKE‘E — A brushfire that started approximately at 2 p.m. Monday burned roughly four acres near Makaha Ridge in Koke‘e, according to county officials.
“There is no immediate threat to any structures and no injuries have been reported,” county spokeswoman Sarah Blane said.
Two helicopters assisted the state Division of Forestry and Wildlife in the fire-fighting efforts by dropping water into the area, in addition to efforts by Kaua‘i Fire Department.
The fire continued to burn brush along Makaha Ridge Monday night, but nightfall forced firefighters to call off efforts due to safety concerns, Blane said.
DOFAW will continue efforts today, and KFD is prepared to respond as needed, according to KFD Chief Robert Westerman.
