If you are ever down on the Westside by Hanapepe and looking for some ono grinds, Bobbie’s is the place fo’ be.
Family and owned and operated by Derek Hosaka, Bobbie’s opened its doors on Oct. 5, 2004.
“We got the name from our mother, whose nickname was Bobbie,” Hosaka said. “Her concept was to come to our home and eat, drink and be merry. Most importantly, though, no one goes home hungry.”
Hosaka wasn’t joking. After sampling a plate of “Da Sista’s I no look like dis fo nutten,” which are pieces of boneless fried chicken with a chili sauce dip, I was ready to collapse into a coma induced state. The true definition of a “Kanak attack!”
“We use all our own recipes. The sauces and marinades are all done from scratch,” Hosaka added.
The hardest part is ordering what to eat. A wide range of plates, bentos, burgers and sides gives customers the freedom to mix and match to their hearts’ desires.
“We are really known for our 11 uniquely titled box lunches and our fried saimin,” said Dawn Hosaka, manager of operations.
One of the box lunches, “Da Kekaha no can get more action than this bento,” priced at $10.60, is packed with sista’s fried chicken, hamburger steak and your choice of either roast pork with brown gravy or smoked meat. Box lunches range from $10.60 to $11.60.
The fried saimin comes in two portions: Small for $4.50 and large for $7.50.
Bobbie’s is open six days a week from Monday through Wednesday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Thursday and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and 5 to 8 p.m.; and Friday, 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and 5 to 8:30 p.m.
For catering and ordering call (808) 335-5152. Bobbie’s is located on 3824 Hanapepe Rd.
The service at Bobbie’s is exceptional. Nothing but warm smiles accompanies the onolicious food. Don’t take my word for it. See for yourself. Once you go Bobbie’s, you neva go home hungry!
