Joseph Janssen
Joseph Paul Janssen of Kalaheo died May 4, 2012 at Wilcox Hospital after a brief illness at the age of 78. Joseph was born July 26, 1934 in Depere, Wisconsin. He was a managing partner for Sierra Vista Land Co., LLC and Mesa Vista Land Co., LLC, in California. Semi-retired, he was also an avid member of the Southside Golf Club. He felt honored to live on the island of Kaua‘i, making it his home since 1985.
Joseph was preceded in death by parents Joseph Sr. and Abby Rose Janssen, and his first wife, Janet.
He is survived by his present wife, Connie Cipriano Janssen; two daughters, Heather Coursen of New Zealand and Lori Brannon of Raleigh, N.C.; and three grandchildren, Hayley Coursen, Hayden and Cameron Brannon. Joseph had numerous relatives in the Wisconsin area.
A celebration of his life will be held at Po‘ipu Beach Park on Sunday June 03, 2012 at 4pm. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations can be made to the American Lung Association, 650 Iwilei Rd. Suite 208, Honolulu HI 96817, www.ala-hawaii.org, or any charity of your choice.

Joseph “Big Joe” Kaumuali‘i Rapozo Sr., of Anahola, Kaua‘i, Hawai‘i, died at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on May 16, 2012, at the age of 49.
He was born November 27, 1962 in Lihu‘e. He was an avid fisherman, loving father and the best grandpa.
Big Joe is preceded in death by his daughter, Tasha Rapozo; father Joseph Rapozo; maternal grandfathers Francisco Alejo & Clarence Napoleon; paternal grandparents John and Helen Rapozo and his uncle, Lorenzo “Bum” Alejo.
Joe is survived by sons Joseph (Welena) Rapozo Jr., Anahola; Kevin (Jamie) Rapozo, Kane‘ohe, O‘ahu; Kaumuali‘i Rapozo-Kaleiohi, Anahola; daughters Rayana Rapozo, Anahola; Lilia Rapozo-Kaleiohi, Anahola; brothers Chad (Teri) Rapozo, Anahola; Clete “Kalani” Rapozo, Anahola; Ryan “Kalei” Rapozo, Hilo, Big Island; sister Janelle (Mark) Rapozo, Anahola; girlfriend, Marissa Kaleiohi, Anahola; mother, Lorraine Rapozo, Anahola; grandmother, Mary Alejo Napoleon, Anahola; grandchildren Zion, Kamahina, Olivia, Kingston, Taelyn, Kaden and Star; and numerous friends and family members.
Friends may visit with the family on Thursday May 24, 2012, for a potluck gathering. Visitation from 6 p.m. at the family home, 4224 Anahola Road, Anahola. Celebration of Life at 7 p.m. Funeral service to be held on Friday May 25, 2012 at Saint Catherine Catholic Church in Kapa‘a. Visitation 9:30 a.m., Mass to be celebrated at 10a.m. Burial to follow at Saint Catherine Cemetery.

Harriette Yoshino
Harriette Ululani Dias Yoshino died peacefully on Sunday, May 6, at the Queen’s Medical Center on O‘ahu, surrounded by her family. Harriette worked as a clerk at the Department of Motor Vehicles.
She was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Shigeru Yoshino and sister Beryl Mapuana Bruhn.
She is survived by her four daughters, Karen (Claude) Lumacad, Lianne Yoshino, Noreen (Kurt) Javinar, Elise (Jesse) Guirao; nine grandchildren, Nicole and Jason Lumacad, Lee Yoshino, Kurtis, Kolby and Keenan Javinar, Isaac and Amber Lopes and Elijah Guirao; two great-grandchildren Kainalu Lumacad Aguinaldo and Kieren Lumacad and godson Shawn Tyler Ah Mow.
A celebration of life will be held at the Koloa Borthwick Mortuary on Saturday, June 2. Visitation from 9 a.m. – 11 a.m. with service to follow. A private family burial will be held on Monday, June 4.
