You know what it’s like getting up every morning feeling hopeless, feeling like the love of your life is waking up with the wrong man? But, at the same time, hoping that she still finds happiness, even if it’s never going to be with you? Alex “Hitch” Hitchens is the date doctor who just might show you the right moves to spice up your love life, or to find the girl of your dreams.
“Hitch,” starring Will Smith in the title role, was released in 2005 and has a running time of 118 minutes. Hitch is rated PG-13 and is directed by Andy Tennant.
Hitch is a professional ‘date doctor’ in New York City who is called upon when Albert Brennaman (Kevin James) seeks help to get the girl of his dreams, Allegra Cole (Amber Valletta). At first Hitch is amused at the fact that Albert, an over-sized dorky male, wants Allegra, a “beautiful Playboy-body woman.”
After Albert explains himself, Hitch realizes that Albert is really head over heels for this girl, and it doesn’t do any harm to give love a shot. Hitch must help Albert hide at the least some of his dorky habits to get to Allegra’s heart. Albert takes a leap of faith and by surprise he lands a date with Allegra. Now its up to Albert to win Allegra’s love, with some guidance from Hitch.
Meanwhile, Hitch is facing some love challenges of his own. Hitch meets Sara Melas (Eva Mendes), a gossip columnist who isn’t very keen on love and has come to the conclusion that all guys are the same and only after one thing — sex. Sara isn’t yet aware that Hitch isn’t one of these guys, and if she gives him a chance she may find her happy ever after. Hitch runs into some complications when Sara is asked to report on the date doctor himself, not realizing she is dating him.
Hitch is an entertaining, funny romance movie and a hit for all ages. So for all you romance lovers out there, please give this movie a shot. My rating is 9 out of 10.
This week my readers are in for a treat. I have a challenge for you, I’d like you to think what the conclusion of this movie will be. Will Albert get the girl of his dreams, Allegra? Will Hitch, after all these years of helping people, find his happy ever after with Sara? All I can hint to you is that there may be another side to Allegra and Hitch that we may not first notice at the beginning of the movie.
