Shigemoto confirmed as UH regent
LIHU‘E — Tom Shigemoto of Lihu‘e was one of four new members of the University of Hawai‘i Board of Regents whose appointment was confirmed by the State Senate Thursday.
The Hawai‘i State Senate confirmed the appointment of four new members, including Shigemoto, and renewed the appointment of two regents. The new regents’ term is effective July 1, a news release states.
Shigemoto, representing Kaua‘i County, is vice president of planning for A&B Properties, the real estate development division of Alexander & Baldwin.
Other regents confirmed by the state Senate include John Dean, representing Honolulu County; Benjamin Kudo, an at-large representative; Jeffrey Acido, student regent; Carl Carlson Jr. representing Hawai‘i County and Barry Mizuno, also representing Hawai‘i County.
Continuing University of Hawai‘i Regents include Kaua‘i’s Michael Dahilig, Eric Martinson, James Lee, Antonio Baxa, Chuck Gee, John Holzman, Coralie Chun Matayoshi, Saedene Ota and Jan Naeo Sullivan.
