ANAHOLA — The Kaua‘i Fire Department responded to a brush fire in a remote area of Anahola Thursday night, and had the blaze under control within 20 minutes of arriving on the scene, states a county press release.
The fire started in brush off of Kukuihale Road, makai of the roadway. Equipment from the Kaiakea and Kapa‘a fire stations, along with a rescue truck from the Lihu‘e Fire Station, responded and arrived on the scene at approximately 8:39 p.m. By 8:59 p.m. the fire was under control. Firefighters fully extinguished the blaze by 10:30 p.m., according to county officials.
The closest structure to the fire, which burned roughly 160 square feet of brush, was approximately one-quarter of a mile away.
