Pinetrees hosts 33rd annual Longboard Surf Classic

HANALEI — The 33rd annual Pinetrees Longboard Surf Classic will be held Saturday at Pinetrees Beach in Hanalei.

The Classic, which is the longest running surf contest on Kaua‘i, a news release states , is dedicated this year to Joe Kuala who passed away just over a year ago. Kuala was an expert board shaper and the founder of Progressive Expressions Surf shop in Koloa. The contest will last two days and features seven divisions: Menehune, Boys, Girls, Women, Men, Masters, Legends and the new Noseriding Division.

Entry forms are available at all surf shops around Kaua‘i and at Pinetrees Beach the morning of the event. The contest is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. For more information, contact
