LIHU‘E — Need help paying for preschool tuition? People Attentive to Children, or PATCH, begins open enrollment this month for a preschool subsidy program. The nonprofit states that children born in 2008 or special needs children born in 2008 or 2009 may be eligible for Preschool Open Doors (POD) tuition assistance.
The POD project allows more children to go to preschool by helping parents pay preschool costs for one year.
The program was created to assist low-income families, and eligibility is determined by family income. Last year, POD received nearly 1,200 applications and enrolled 500 children.
Applications can be downloaded at www.patchhawaii.org, or contact PATCH toll-free at 800-746-5620.
