Citing an “aggressive budget schedule,” Gov. Neil Abercrombie last week announced the release of $48.9 million for schools, hospitals, public safety and other Capital Improvement Projects (CIP) statewide.
An outline of the recently approved funding includes:
• $15 million for high school science facilities statewide.
• $3.28 million for public library projects across the state.
• $1 million for the removal of hazardous materials in schools across the state.
• $350,000 for Department of Public Safety projects statewide.
• $13 million for Honolulu International Airport improvements.
• $7 million for the Hawai‘i Housing Finance and Development Corp. Low-Income Housing Tax Credit Loan program.
The program targets eligible developers of affordable rental housing projects targeted at households at or below 60 percent of the area median income.
