Rosita Padre
Rosita R. Padre of Kilauea, Kaua‘i passed away on Jan. 16, 2012 at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 77. Born on July 27, 1934 in Lanao, Bangui Ilocos Norte Philippines, she was a homemaker.
She is survived by her husband, Vicente Padre; four daughters, Imelda (Rey) Martinez; Leticia (Edison) Nacapuy; Marilyn (Rommel) Aguinaldo and Rene (Jonah) Fleming; two, sons, Dante (Aida) Padre and Roy (Espie) Padre; one sister, Encarnacion Cadavona; ten grandchildren, Eunice (Ryan) Sagucio; Donna Jean Nacapuy; Christian George Nacapuy; Brison Alexander Nacapuy; Dave Andrew Aguinaldo; Chelsea Nicole Aguinaldo; Carlo Martinez; Maile Rose Padre; Elizabeth Padre and Renah Fleming.
Friends may visit with the family on Monday, Jan. 30, 2012 at St. Sylvester’s Church in Kilauea from 8 a.m. to 9:45 a.m., where memorial service will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. and burial to follow at St. Catherine’s Church Cemetery.

Toshie Shimizu
Toshie H. Shimizu of Wailua, Kaua‘i, died on Jan. 5, 2012 at home at the age of 89. Born on Sept. 25, 1922, in Hanapepe, Kaua‘i, she was a housewife.
She is survived by her son, Karl Shimizu of Thailand; daughters, Gloria Shimizu of Kapa‘a and Pearl Shimizu of Kapa‘a; brother, Tada Ted Hashimoto of Hanapepe; sister-in-law, Chiyoko Hashimoto of Kekaha; numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends may visit with the family from 3 to 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2012 at the Kapa‘a Hongwanji Mission; service at 4 p.m. Casual attire. Flowers omitted.

Atsushi Ikeda
Atsushi “Hotty” Ikeda of Lawa‘i died on Jan. 16, 2012, at the age of 90.
He was born on Oct. 8, 1921. He entered into the U.S. Army on Jan. 3, 1944, and was honorably discharged on Dec. 8, 1945. He was a Tech 4. He retired from Olokele Sugar Co.
He is survived by his wife, Sachi Ikeda of Lawa‘i; one son, Alyn Ikeda of Honolulu; one granddaughter, Aftin Ikeda of Honolulu and one brother, Toshio “Tenny” (Tsuneyo) Ikeda of Kaumakani; daughter-in-law, Daphne Ikeda of Aiea; nephews, Mitchell (Carol) Ikeda of Lihu’e; Randy Ono of Lawa‘i; Wayne (Valerie) Ono of Aiea; Renard (Noreen) Saiki of Kahului; Dean (Bernie) Saiki of Kahalui and Patrick (Susan) Ikeda of Honolulu; nieces, Diane (Brian) Turnbull of Camarillo, Calif.; Lorraine (Galen) Yee of Bothel, Wash.; brother-in-law, Masao (Kiyoko) Ono of Lawa‘i; Katsumi (Frances) Ikeda of Lawa‘i; sister-in-law, Fumie Saiki of Kahalui and cousin, Pat Yamaoka of Kaneohe.
Memorial services will be held on Jan. 28 at the Garden Island Mortuary Chapel. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Service to begin at 11 a.m. The family suggests casual attire.

Fumiko Hirata
Fumiko “Flora” Hirata of ‘Ele‘ele, Kaua‘i, died on Jan. 13, 2012 at Garden Isle Health Care at the age of 91. Born on March 4, 1920, in Waialua, O‘ahu, she was a homemaker.
She is survived by her sons, Melvin (Miriam) Hirata of Garden, Calif., Ronald (Claire) Hirata of Camarillo, Calif., and Gerald (Ed Goka) of Lihue; daughters, Evelyn (Harry) Masaki of ‘Ele‘ele and Adele Iwasaki of Lihue; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren and sister, Fusae Kobayashi of Santa Monica, Calif.
Services were private. Family requests no koden.

Christiane Carson
Christiane “Chris Girl” Alice Carson of Kailua Kona, Hawai‘i and formerly of Puna, Hawai‘i died on Jan. 20, 2012 at Kona Community Hospital at the age of 55. She was born on Jan. 4, 1957 in Paris, France. She was a long time employee of Uncle Billy’s Hilo Bay Hotel.
She is survived by son, Matthew Carson of Kihei, Maui; daughters, Marianne Carson and Liana Carson both of Kailua Kona; brothers, Benjamin Dowling of Honolulu; Samuel (Lily) Dowling of Kapa‘a, Kaua‘i; Edward Dowling of Kailua Kona; Craig (Joanne) Dowling of Kaimuki; Frank Dowling of Kailua, O‘ahu; a grandson; numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held at Living Stones Church on Ali‘i Drive on Saturday, Feb. 4, 2012 at 3:30 p.m. Refreshment to follow at the Keauhou Outrigger Hotel Kalani Kai Restaurant next to Kahalu‘u Beach.
