Kyle Otsuka
Kyle Kaleo Masashi Otsuka of Makawao and formerly of Kaua‘i passed away on Friday, Jan. 6, 2012, at his residence at the age of 36. He was born on Aug. 9, 1975, in Wailuku, Maui. He was a painter at Pacific Painting Co.
He is survived by his father, Lyle (Renee) Otsuka of Kaua‘i; mother, Gail Otsuka; grandmother, Nellie Villalon; partner, Shirley Gusman; two sons, Levi Otsuka-Luis and Kylo Otsuka; two daughters, Marlie-Ann Otsuka and Jahzion Otsuka; brother, Gavin Otsuka and hanai sister, Tammy Payne.
Family and friends are invited to gather for funeral services on Wednesday, Jan. 18, at Borthwick Norman’s Mortuary. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. with the service at 10:30 a.m., followed by lunch. Burial will follow at 2 p.m. at Maui Memorial in Wailuku.

Jaime Pascua
Jaime Salvador Pascua of ‘Ele‘ele, Kaua‘i, passed away on Jan. 7, 2012, at home at the age of 85. He was born on April 3, 1926, in Ewa, Hawai‘i. He was a retired field worker with McBryde Sugar Plantation.
He was preceded in death by parents, Narcisco and Concordia Pascua; brother, Luis Pascua; and sister, Catalina Pascual.
He is survived by his wife, Esmenia Pascua; sons, Rodney (Jan) Pascua of Kalaheo and Edwin (Mely) Pascua of Hanamaulu; daughters, Eveline (Rodger) Corpuz of ‘Ele‘ele and Delia (Allen) Tumbaga of ‘Ele‘ele; brother, Eloy Pascua of Kekaha; sister, Incarnation Ringor of the Philippines; grandchildren, Bryson Tumbaga, Cyrus Tumbaga, and Tiana Pascua, Jaimie Pascua and James Pascua; great-grandchildren, Jayvier Butay and Sylas Butay; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services will be held on Jan. 21 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Kalaheo with visitation from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Mass to begin at 10:30 a.m. Burial to follow at the Kauai Veterans Cemetery. Casual attire is suggested.

Wah Quan Lee
Wah Quan Lee of Lihu‘e passed away on Dec. 30, 2011, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 97. He was born on June 1, 1914, on Kaua‘i and was a retired maintenance worker.
He is survived by his daughter, Mary Ellen (Tom) Abihai Gonsalves; threes sons, David Murayama; Ronald (Janice) Lee and Roland (Arnette) Lee; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, Jan. 21, at Borthwick Mortuary Chapel in Koloa from 9:30 a.m. to 10:15 a.m., where memorial services will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m.

Martha Hashimoto
Martha Masae Hashimoto passed away on Jan. 4, 2012, in Los Angeles, Calif., at the age of 64. She was born on Aug. 6, 1947, in Pepe‘ekeo, Hilo, Hawai‘i. She was a retired beautician proprietor for Rose’s Hair Fashions in Los Angeles.
She was preceded in death by parents, Mutsumi and Kiyoko Kimoto and sister-in-law, Mieko Kimoto.
She is survived by her husband, Melvin Kazuto Hashimoto, formerly of Puhi, Kaua‘i; children, Terry Mutsue Hashimoto; Stuart Masato (Gabriela) Hashimoto and Lynn Kazue (Brian Roberts) Hashimoto of Washington; four grandchildren; brothers, Royden Kimoto of Hawai‘i; Rodney and Stanley Kimoto; son-in-law, Patrick Garcia; many nieces nephews and other relatives.

John Cummings
John Humphries Cummings Sr. of Anahola died on Jan. 6, 2012, at Garden Isle Health Care at the age of 73. He was born on Jan. 2, 1939, in Hanama‘ulu, Kaua‘i, and retired as a tractor operator after 39 years with Lihu‘e Sugar Plantation.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Humphries Frank Cummings and Theresa Perreira Cummings Kido; stepfather, Kaigo Kido; brother, Gary Cummings; brother-in-law, Earl Apo; son-in-law, Vince “Kutie” Efhan; grandson, Byron Cummings and sister-in-law, Alice Cummings.
He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Barbara Jean Keawe Cummings; five sons, John Cummings Jr., Alroy Cummings, George (Leimomi) Cummings, Billy (Tessy) Cummings, Dennis (Lynn) Cummings; two daughters, Holiday Efhan and Michele (Ken) Nakamura; brothers, Kenneth (Charlene) Cummings, Wilbert Cummings; sister, Agnes Apo; sister-in-law, Ruby Cummings; 25 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of his life will be held on Friday, Jan. 20, at Kapa‘a Assembly of God Church with viewing at 8 a.m. and services celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens. Please join the Cummings ‘ohana for a luncheon at the Wailua Houselots Park immediately following burial.

Sam Jin Arashiro
Sam Jin Arashiro of Lihu‘e, Kaua‘i, died on Dec. 17, 2011, in Las Vegas, Nevada, at the age of 56. He was born on April 4, 1955, in Waimea. He recently retired from the Department of Parks and Recreation where he was a recreation coordinator for the County of Kaua‘i.
He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Arashiro; mother, Gladys Arashiro and brother, Kurt Arashiro.
He is survived by his wife, Jennifer Arashiro; daughters, Cody, Cory and Casey Arashiro and siblings, April, Darlene and Craig Arashiro.
Family and friends are invited to a celebration of life service on Jan. 16 at Wailua Marina Restaurant on Kaua‘i. Visitation at 4 p.m. Services will follow at 5 p.m. The family requests that flowers be omitted.

Crescencio “Ches” M. Ramos Jr. of Kapa‘a passed away on Jan. 9, 2012, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 32. He was born on Nov. 15, 1979, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital.
He is survived by his parents, Crescencio “Ches” Ramos, Sr.; Rebecca “Becky” Ramos; daughter, Alana Ramos; two brothers, Danvic Ramos and Glen Ramos; grandparents, Primitivo (Maria) Ramos and Alberto (Beatriz) Nidea; numerous nieces, nephews, aunties, uncle and cousins.
