Girls basketball opens the final leg of its first round when Kapa‘a travels to Waimea with the junior varsity squads tipping off at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, followed by the varsity game starting about 20 minutes after the end of the JV game.
Kaua‘i, taking a critical game against Waimea last week, hosts Island School in a single varsity match starting at 7 p.m. Tuesday. Island School forfeited its match against Kapa‘a Dec. 27.
The season continues with the final game of the first round on Friday when Kapa‘a travels to the Kaua‘i High School gym, and Island School drives to Waimea for a single game.
Kapa‘a and Kaua‘i JV teams tip off at 5:30 p.m. Friday, followed by the varsity, while Island School plays a single game at 7 p.m.
The boys basketball season inaugurates its season Wednesday when Kaua‘i travels to the Clem Gomes Gym in Waimea with the junior varsity tipping off at 5:30 p.m., followed by the varsity game starting about 20 minutes after the JV game.
Kapa‘a, coming off a successful six-team hoops tournament that wrapped up Friday, will travel to Island School for a JV exhibition game starting at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday. Kapa‘a will host Waimea on Saturday with the JV game tipping off at 5:30 p.m., while Kaua‘i hosts Island School for the JV exhibition match.
With the endangered birds’ fledging season done, the KIF soccer program returns to its normal schedule Wednesday when Waimea visits Kaua‘i at Vidinha Stadium.
The varsity girls take the field starting at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, followed by the varsity boys starting no earlier than 6:30 p.m.
Kapa‘a varsity boys will travel to Island School for a single match starting at 4 p.m.
Thursday, the junior varsity squads for Waimea travel to Vidinha where the JV girls meet Kaua‘i starting at 4:30 p.m. and the JV boys start at 6:15 p.m.
Kapa‘a’s JV girls will be at Island School for an exhibition match starting at 4 p.m.
On Saturday, six soccer games are on tap starting at 10 a.m., when Kapa‘a travels to Hanapepe Stadium against Waimea.
Kaua‘i will be at Island School for two games, a JV girls exhibition and varsity boys, starting also at 10 a.m. Saturday.
The Kapa‘a boys are undefeated in the KIF Paddling regatta which resumes its schedule following the winter break, starting at 10 a.m. Saturday at Wailua River.
KIF swimming, where six KIF records fell on the first qualifying meet of the season, resumes Saturday, with the first event hitting the water at 10 a.m. at the Kapa‘a pool.
