Sandi O’Shaughnessy, owner of Iron Lotus Core Fitness in Kapa‘a, will lead a strength and conditioning class for teen agers at the Kaua‘i Police Activities League Youth Center in Kapa‘a during the winter break.
O’Shaughnessy, who works with the Kapa‘a High School strength and quickness classes, will work with participants on how to use their bodies and various fitness tools such as medicine balls and heavy ropes to create a fun and challenging workout.
The camp caters to high school athletes of all sports to improve strength and endurance as well as help prevent sports-related injuries, states a county release.
Classes will start Dec. 19 and continue through Jan. 4, 2012 from 2 to 3 p.m. each Monday and Wednesday.
Registration for the camp will be held Dec. 16 from 4 to 5 p.m. and on Dec. 17 from 12:30 to 2 p.m. at the K-PAL Youth Center in Kapa‘a on the Samuel Mahelona Memorial Hospital grounds.
Late registrations will be accepted during the first scheduled class, space permitting.
Each participant must complete a registration form signed by a parent, or legal guardian.
The camp is free to all K-PAL members and $5 for all six sessions for non-K-PAL members.
For more information on the K-PAL program, or to request additional support, or an auxiliary aid, email Kaua‘i Police Dept. Sgt. Rod Green at rgreen@kauai.gov, or call O’Shaughnessy at 651-6349.
